Can anyone tell me what wheels these are?

Post by Sharkz4 » Wed Dec 14, 2016 9:22 am

Hi Everyone,

Don't know if this will work but I saw this Zed for sale and loved the wheels. Contacted the owner to find out but he was less than helpful. I have a 2007 Z4 Black just like this and I would like to put these wheels on, I did find out from the owner that they were 20", sorry that is all I know.

tastes and all that but they look tatty! going to guess some knockoff brand. 20" would result in terrible ride imo, even 19's are harsh.

Don't mind the style but my teeth have just fallen out at the thought of the ride on 20" rims

There's plenty on here who have gone for aftermarket wheels, I for one have used BBS and I would certainly not hesitate to buy again as long as the wheel have TUV certification for quality (you are going to get a tested product).

Style is fortunately, a personal thing, most concerns will be on the fact that the wheels are 20". This means to keep the same wheel diameter you will need a 25 profile and good luck with finding a 255/25/20 tyre. It's either 265/25/20 or 255/30/20 which will make the overall diameter of the wheel larger by 5mm and 25mm respectively. Unless you live in a country that has billiard board smooth road surfaces the car is not going to be fun with a 25% profile

Either tyre will have a larger diameter than standard, the good is that your speedo will read more accurately, however the downside is your car will accelerate less quickly and burn more fuel in the process.

SARS,

Thanks for taking the time to explain the reality behind your statement, I see your point and it makes sense.

Aslo, taste is a personal, I agree. My girlfriend wants me to keep the original wheels, so at least for the time being the originals are staying.

I love the lines of this car and i am so glad I finally own my own!! :driving:

above look much better tbh! :) I'd say BBS CH's in 18-19 look great on Z4's. That is if you don't wanna go the usual CSL route!

Nothing against the looks for me, but if you find them I'd definitely go for 19" or the ride will be bone-crunchingly hard

Thanks every one,

All makes sense. The wheels in the photograph are actually Vertini McLaren’s which I assume have nothing to do wththe Mclaren company. Just a model name. I take on board all your input and thank you. Particularly the information regarding the ride with 20" rims and the suggestion to go with 19". I find the run flat Potenza's that the car came with are not so nice either. My Z won't be ready for a set of new boots for a little while but when I do, I intend to change them for something a little more comfortable. I will look through the forum for tyre suggestions.

Sensible to ditch the run-flats once its economical to do so. Don't rule out a set of 18" alloys either, also I would recommend Goodyear Eagle F1s for the rubber
