Replacement wheel centres
Hi
I need to get some new wheel centres for my 108s. The existing ones have got peeling centres but the plastic outer lip is fine.
Has anyone tried these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-BMW-68mm- ... 8579&rt=nc
As a cheaper alternative?
Thanks

Re: Replacement wheel centres
I have always bought OEM. They are expensive at about £36 IIRC for a set of four but they are quality and snap in tightly. I've read done of the aftermarket fleabay ones can be a little loose fitting.

Re: Replacement wheel centres
yep.
if the ones you get are a bit loose, just put a layer of electricians tape around the inside lip of the wheel, then push the cap in.
Holds them perfectly in place!

That's a top tip, I was going to use a tiny drop of silicon sealant for extra snugnesssk93 wrote:yep.

silicon works well, until it dries and gets sticky and you go get your wheels balanced.... new cap requiredSae wrote:That's a top tip, I was going to use a tiny drop of silicon sealant for extra snugnesssk93 wrote:yep.

Send an email to Ian Clifton at [email protected] and tell him what you are after and ask him to send you a PDF brochure.

I got this advice, and just found he was WAY more expensive the eBay
(like, a front bonnet badge in carbon fiber - he wanted about £70.)

Re: Replacement wheel centres
here's a reply from my email chain with him, he's replying to my comment of "How much?!"
£38 + vat = £45.60 for new badge
£45.60 + £13 = £58.60 for new badge recovered in carbon
£58.60 + £5 = £63.60 for new badge, plus top, with an estimate of a fiver for shipping.
my call of £70 may have been an overestimate, but it was from memory from nearly a year ago... and not too far off the actual cost
The reason the front badge is so expensive is the base is OEM from BMW at approx £38 plus VAT + Gen Carbon top at £13 + delivery etc.
