Post by Phoenixboy » Sat Dec 16, 2017 11:24 am

I’ve had a search but not found an answer😏
2.5 se on 17” wheels on non run flats
Am currently running 29 front and 31 rear
Does that seem correct?
Cheers guys, sorry if it’s been asked many times.

This is what the handbook says :

These pressures would apply to run-flats so, as Mr Wilks says maybe try 33/34. You can always come down if it feels hard.

Interesting to note the rear pressures of the 2.5i differs to the rear of the 3.0i.

I have 18's on my 3.0i and pump them up to 36pso because i thought it would be best to stick to book figures, but it seems rather high for non runflats?

Should i lower them to 33-34?

Personally I think that 36psi is a little high. However, as long as the tyre's aren't over-inflated or under-inflated as to affect tyre wear then alot comes down to personal preference.
My Zed is a 2.5i on non-RFT 18" Avon ZZ5s and after trying various pressures I've settled on 30f-33r. The car feels composed, rides well and grips well without overly affecting wear. Coincidentally these pressures are what the handbook says for 18 " RFTs ! :o

Tyre pressures

I run 32PSI all round on 18 107s with M spec tyres sizes which are a little more comfortable than the standard zed sizes due to an extra 5% on the side profiles.

After a bit of experimentation I settled on this based on the M cars running F30 & R32 as standard even though they weigh a bit more than my 3.0i. The reason I opted for F32 instead of the M spec F30 was simply because
1) I preferred it when I tried it.
2) Knowing that BMW uses a lower front tyre pressure than the rear to induce a bit more understeer. A bit like why the alignment settings are the way they are from the factory.
