As the title suggests, how easy is to upgrade the brakes on a 2.0i using 2.8i or 3.0 or 3.5 factory parts?

And/or do any of those brakes cross relate to other BMWs...I'nm sure they must..

I don't feel that my 2.0i is underbraked but wanted to look at the options..

The brakes look puny when compared to a 3.5 or Z4M but feel strong..

Geeky questions are:

1) How does the load proportioning s/w cope with changes in brakes?

2) Any changes to servo's or anything else?

3) I assume the rear parking brake is a nighmare on Elm street in this context?

4) What happens if you just uprate the front?

1. It wont know you have changed discs and pads and will continue to operate in the same manner.
2. Not essential
3. Nope
4. Probably a bad idea, you would upset braking balance.

I understood it was the front brakes only that were larger on the 28i with the rears staying the same? :?

i disagree, my 2.0 brakes feel adequate, but not reassuring, and i am more than curious how easy/costly it is to upgrade to the larger 2.5/3.0 brakes

Sorry, I jumped in and maybe confused the issue, I have a stock 2.0 with what I feel are barely adequate and would like to upgrade to what the big boys have on the 2.5/3.0 and I'm assuming it's a bolt on job am I right? So where do I go for bigger disks and calipers assuming that's the case, is there anybody with some lying around after their own upgrade maybe? :driving:
