I35S Exhaust Valve

Post by john.a. » Mon Jan 16, 2017 6:33 pm

Just wondered if anyone could tell me when the exhaust valve on the i35s should be open and closed.

My car appears to be noisier in a morning than it usually is. Not checked what state the valve is when its cold but when that engine is up to temperature the valve is open, even at idle. Does this sound correct?

It always opens on startup from cold, if you want to change that you can blank off the valve (similar to the r32 t-mod) then it remains noisy all the time, not sure you can make it quiet all the time though, I expect it's emissions related

Closed at initial start, opens when revs lower at idle. Closes and opens during driving dependent on engine load/other parameters to reduce drone.

All noise emissions related.

Ooh this is interesting. Where exactly in the system is the valve(s) guys?

Does the valve(s) change states or mode of operation when you switch between Normal/Sport/Sport+ ?

Thanks!
Dan

In the tail of the exhaust... On the 28i anyway, assume similar position for 35i...
E89/28i Msport gone :( .. Zx10r track bike gone… time for a KTM 350 exc-f and some green laning and dirt bike excursions…. Let’s see how this goes… :
