Your first stop has to be either getting a full charge into the battery or replacing it if its knackered.
When the battery charge gets too low things in the car stop working. I would imagine the roof might be one of them.

The cars are very susceptible to low voltage, cars will start fine but a varying amount of different things won't work, people have had nav screens trying to move up an down for no reason and various dash lights stuck on, unsure weather the roof lights would still flash or not

Richard,

I think it's definitely a module, transport mode or a combination of the two. Lots of the modules in your car weren't communicating with DIS/GT1 when i hooked it up. The roof was working fine when you left and it's stopped since the battery was disconnected. Sounds like modules aren't talking on the can bus.

Have you had notice of the recall that the E89 had over the power lead from the battery to the fuse box ? I was getting intermittent unexplained electric problems which seem to be better since it was done .
Interestingly the dealership charged the battery whilst doing the job albeit the battery seemed ok to me .
