FS: QUALITY German made MIG welder.

Post by Ducklakeview » Fri Apr 28, 2017 4:12 pm

Ok, so as the wife decided to treat me to a new Snap On Mig welder after my hospital stay, I am selling my trusty and 100% reliable Erfi Rekord 140A mig welder.

Now this has a bit of history to it..

I originally purchased it as a present for my Dad, who is a qualified welder, back when I was about 18 - Yup back in about 1985..

It was top of the range back then, and definitely not a "hobby" mig as it was usually sold to bodyshops and the like. I paid around £1000 back then.

He only used it lightly, as it was his "home" machine, before it came to me about 10 years ago. I've used it way more than him, and it's been 100% reliable.

It is solidly made, with "proper" components, and a wire feed motor that has NO plastic parts, and is the size of a proper tea mug, nothing like the tiny crap found in today's welders. It also has twin transformers and a proper sized rectifier, as per the pics.

It was one of the first welders to come with a euro torch fitting as standard, and this has been replaced a few times over the years. It is currently fitted with a "Binzel type 15" torch, which I fitted a new wire liner to a couple of weeks ago.

It takes reels of wire from the tiny ones, up to 25kg, although I tend to use the 5kg when welding stainless. It has 0.6 & 0.8mm wire feed wheels included.

It is mounted on heavy duty castors, and takes up to a large size gas bottle on the rear.

Machine has never let me down, and been totally reliable. Inside it's very simple and here isn't much to go wrong with it. It produces quality welds on steel from about 0.6mm upwards.

Only reason I am selling is that I now have a new one, bought by the Wifey :)

Looking for £250 from a forum member, to include the regulator but not gas bottle. Can arrange delivery at cost (approx £20) or collection from WA9 is fine.

This is an opportunity to get a PROPER, bodyshop quality mig for less than the price of a decent hobby mig....

Will leave on here for a bit as in no rush, before putting on Ebay for a bit more.

Pics showing condition and quality of it and it's internal components....

Funny you say that Mat, I will need to do some welding on the MR2 and still have welding to do on the GT6, so it will get used.
