2010 Red 35i

Post by gov » Sat Mar 18, 2017 9:53 pm

Just browsing and came across this - considering many options as a new toy and the E89 is a strong contender for value and performance - always loved red so that has to be top priority - love the look of this car ( mileage a bit much but I suppose price reflects this )

Roof mechanism worries me - any known weaknesses ?

That's been up for a long time Gov, I put that down to non M sport spec and the miles, however imho that's no reason not to buy it, especially for someone who probably doesn't want to use it all the time. Factory Nav, sport seats, you would find it completely different from your last E85, less steering focussed and hard ride but a vast improvement in comfort. I think it, or something similar, would suit you no end.

As John mentioned, this has been on sale for aagggeeess ... at least 6 moths. I guess it is a good reason to negotiate a good deal on the price, providing the car is perfect of course. I wouldn't mind the red at all

Thanks for info - if I'm honest it's too many miles - I'm also wary of a car that's been up for sale for a long time - I'm in no particular hurry so probably best to wait - good thing is red does seem to be a lot more common in E89 models - will have to be a 3.0 though !

Strange I bumped in to this one yesterday in a strange fit of looking at E89 for sale on AT

I think this looks great, will perform well however don't know whether the lack of M handling will blunt the experience?

Life is a compromise though and it's got lots going for it?

I love the red, great colour for all Z's

Mileage is on the up but not huge

The price and SE is why it's not sold ..it's probably around £12k to get it off the pitch

If that had m sport bumpers and 326's it would be £15k

If you roared away anywhere near £12k & switched the alloys you could be up on that whilst enjoying it
Decent spec + manual box it just needs some presence adding to it
Black the grills & the front under bar then throw on a set of 405Ms & it would look a different motor

The flip side of non M sport suspension Spikey is you haven't got the worry of leaking adaptive dampers which are approx £1600 from the dealers, plus from reading around it seems Eibach springs etc, and uprated ARB's, bushes etc, do a very good job of bridging the gap, maybe even better than adpative depending on your preference.

I went to see this car a few weeks ago and the panels are different shades of red, like the faded red that you used to see on MX5's.
Maybe this can be cut back and polished back to match but then you've got to ask why the dealer hasn't done this?

Bmw red shouldn't fade as it's laquer over base colour

Mazda paint had no laquer..
