Better finding these issues now rather than further down the line and money back is a bonus.

Maybe there is a better car out there just waiting to be found.

Sorry to read this Tom. :(
My wife had a 986 Boxster S which was almost entirely fault free in 2 years/40k miles of driving including trackdays (bought at 50k, sold at 90k). On the strength of that car I looked at getting a 996 911 or 987 Boxster myself but just couldn't get past the % risk of a serious engine failure, hence going for the Z4M.
My co-directors partner has a 3.4 987 and it's had numerous minor faults and bills and she bought her car after mine and has covered gentle miles and no trackdays. The paranoia of a large bill is taking some of the pleasure of ownership, even though she knows the odds are that the car will be fine.

During the recent 35is buying, I had a wobble and considered a Porsche - after reading this I'm glad I kept my balance. I always thought they were bomb proof. Aparently not!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

The last bombproof hand built cars were the last aircoled model 993... after that every model went mass produced technique which saved Porsche

I believe ( but I'm no expert) you need to go for one of the Metzler (I think that's how you spell it) engined models to avoid many of the issues on later models.

Only MHO of course :)
Porsche 997 Gen 2 Cab - awesome
Melbourne Red 35iS (Gone to a new Home)
3.0 SE E85 Maldives blue (Now gone but not forgotten)
Previous toys:- 2.0 Litre Westy, 993 C4

£35k + to get into a Mezger engined car nowadays i would think....

Madness... They are better but not brilliant, but carry non of the problems of the NA engine...

Timing gears do come loose and water pipes and housing do crack and fall to bits, engine out to replace...

Sorry to hear about your car issues Tom, luckily you managed to get a refund!

Not cool with the dealer selling the car on again though, do you have a link to the car?

Best of luck with your new search, have you thought about an M6? Or E92 M3? Something a little different. :driving:

2017 BMW F31 318d M-Sport - Auto - Glacier Silver

2003 BMW E85 Z4 3.0i - Gone

I do love the M6 but the issues with them are dangerous for the wallet and the 10mpg for the performance doesn't really float my boat. The M3 again like them especially the V8 but not really what I'm after, my dad had one and they were a bit too bardge like for me the noise is great but they aren't really that special to drive and again they have just as many engine problems  I want a 2 seater really just going to be a weekend car so want something more focused. Looking at Gen 2 987s and would love a 981 but they are just too far out of my budget. Nothings really coming up for sale atm so just biding my time.

Here is the link to the car

Too good to be true obviously. Was a lovely car mind there is nothing with the spec like the Lobster wheels and the Carrera Sports steering wheel even close in this bracket and like I said I paid less than 10K for it so as I say too good to be true.
