Bought new Z4 6 weeks ago and now this!!!

Car went in to dealers today due to condensation and water and failure of rear lights(especially indicators) as posted on previous threads by me and others.
The car was booked in by phone last Wednesday for todays visit. (over a weeks wait for a new car defect )

Wife dropped off car today 8am at dealer and phoned them at 330pm as not heard anything, she has now just phoned from dealer as car is unsafe to drive FFS.
They dont have a curtesy car at the moment and are trying to source one. I asked how they couldnt have checked this this morning but she was told "we were further down the list and they never seen the car until late pm)
So having phoned in over a week ago your car is last to get seen and they can't fix it. And can't get you a car!!!
Poor show BMW also they have said they have no lights in stock in UK or Germany and could take a while to get them in.(does this mean fault a lot worse than the few of us on here have had)

Sorry but first time Ive bought or used BMW service and this is not the best TBH.

Update:- wife has just phoned and they are unable to get us a car until Friday. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have advised her to drive the car home carefully (20 miles) and bring it back on Friday(another 20 miles back) for a loaner until they can fix it.

This is after just being told 10 minutes earlier its unsafe to drive

She is in London for next 2 days so not really using car but I am seriously hacked off with this level of service.
May be using different garage from now on and for servicing if this is how you are treated after shelling out the best part of 35K 6 weeks ago

You should have simply called BMW Assist (preferably at night), pointing out the faulty lights so that they took charge of the repairs.

That would mean that you'd initially get a free hire car for 2 days, and then it would be up to the dealer to supply a courtesy car or another hire car.

Cheers but not gonnae use car for next two days, I just think its off telling you to come for car at 4pm then telling you you cant have it as dangerous to drive then when they cant find a courtesy car they give it back till Friday when they will keep car until repaired.

Weather getting better and unable to drive, not the excellent Marque I would have thought.

Bit of a dampener on wifes new car experience TBH.
I was only getting it from her on the phone as if it was myself I would not have left the dealer until they sorted me out there and then and some recompense for the hassle of a new car breaking down (1200 miles now). But she just wanted to get home and beat the rush hour traffic.
I will pop in to see salesman tomorrow and have a wee word with service manager in the passing too.

This sounds bad but never had this experience when our SLK or Jag developed early faults under warranty, everything and everyone bent over backwards to assist, sorry BM poor showing.

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITH DEFECTIVE LIGHTS - if BMW say you should do this they are condoning a road traffic offence. I would suggest a meeting with the dealer principle asap and a phone call to BMW UK. Record the date time etc of who you speak to and what was said. My first question would be, 'Are you suggesting I drive the car with lights that contravene the traffic laws...?', and see what they say. Agree with others BMW Assist should have been your first port of call.

My BMW dealer got me an AVIS hire car (new 320d) and delivered it to my work when my Z4 needed a faulty light module replacing (it wasnt in stock in the UK) and i couldnt drive the car (dodgy indicators and lights).

Update

Went up to see the dealer today to try and save my missus the hassle tomorrow and spoke to general manager. (noticed yesterday car had 6" scratch and chips on edge of door). Fair play to them they are going to sort that out and have a car for my wife tomorrow for her finishing work.
The light clusters are on back order but 13 of them are coming into the UK either Friday or Monday, if these are all used up for jobs, and probably will be  , they will give me a set of lights out of their demo car. Or the ones going to Hillington :P Z4Beemers cars in there for his too
TBH im not that bothered now as they are giving my missus another new Z while ours is in(hope its a 35iS :D )

So hopefully all ends well

This is what I was going to suggest, as you will get a hire car within 2 hours normally for two days initally.

Although in my case it took from 5pm Saturday to 2pm Sunday to get a car to me. There excuse for not getting one to me sooner was "We only had a Z4 locally, and you wouldn't want one of those would you sir!". So they gave me a 320D M-Sport (which wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either).

Dealer phoned today and cvar ready for pick up.
We got one of those 13 sets of lights that came in, only hope they were not Z4Beemer's

sounds like a lazy ass service advisor get them to get you a rental car from enterprise bmw authorise and pay for these things if a car has had a VOR part against it while under warranty (vehicle off road) and if the part is back order then it's easy to organise

call bmw customer services on 0800 325 600 be nice to them but let them know how let down you feel by the way the dealer has treated you telling you to drive an unsafe car until a car is available

i highly doubt that someone at bmw customer services won't get you sorted out and give parks the ar*e kicking they deserve over this

hope this helps
