Hi guys, looks like my roof motor has pretty much had it. Losing power every time i operate it to the point now where i have to help it for the first 50% of the opening, although it closes all the way by itself.

Anyway I am going to combine this guide with rich_stocktons http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic ... 52&start=0 and take my roof off, clean up my existing motor and put back together and see how we go.

However i tried downloading shipkillers instructions in pdf format but his website appears to have gone. Does anyone have a copy of these saved anywhere? Would make my life easier if anyone does.

Thanks in advance.

That doesnt seem to be the right one. That is for unclogging the drains. Im after the one for removing the soft top and changing the motor. There is the standard write up on here, but i thought the PDF would be more user friendly to print out. Anyone got a link to this?

HUGE THANKS to Shipkiller! Your walk through allowed me to R&R my motor with little hassle, other than being 6'1 and almost 300 pounds trying to squeeze into the trunk... Completed in one afternoon. Cleaned the drains while I was in there.

Previous motor had leaky seals and a leaking reservoir, so I needed to top off the system. BMW wanted $40 for 200ml. Used Pentison CHF 11S with no issues. $15 for a liter. I checked the lines for additional leaks and found none. Only leaking at the pump itself.

Are the pumps able to be rebuilt? Replacing seals would give me a back up pump for the future.

Thanks again!

I have followed the instructions and everything is loose except for the two hoop clips. I pried , pushed, pulled and cussed to no effect. surely I am just missing something simple. can anyone explain how to get the hoop out of the clips?

NEVER MIND. Problem solved by an attitude attack. I was being too gentle, but deciding the hoop was going to pop out or I was going lift the thing off the ground worked. at no time did the wheels leave the ground. This forum is really a valuable resource.

Can someone please send me/post a link to the PDF instructions for removing the soft top and replacing the motor? All the links I've come across no longer work. Thank you in advance!

Can I bump this and request anyone who has the PDF instructions to post them again? Really need them!

Edit: Not to worry, I found the link in another almost identical thread. http://dellis.co.uk.linkpc.net/Z4/Pdfs/Instructions/
