E89 iPod Touch play

Post by Alpine Z » Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:14 pm

I'm new here, have done a search without finding the thread or answer, so please bear with me.

I cannot get my iPod touch to pair with the car, it only seems to want to find a phone, so I tried the USB cable with Lightening jack, no joy, the car did not recognise it.

My son mentioned it may need a Y connector, what's that?

I have already gone down the route of putting music on a USB stick 32gb but my music library is bigger than that, I am aware some cars do not like larger capacity sticks.

Any suggestions?

Well in the absence of any replies, I bought a Sandisk Mobile Mate, Micro SD Adaptor and a Sandisk UltraFit 64gb USB stick.

The Ultra Fit works fine, so no worries.

I'm still trying to sort out the Mobile Mate, I put a 64gb card in that.

It just seems a shame I can't get the iPod to connect as I'm very used to that.

Depends on the year of your car as to how well things work and how they connect. y cable is sometimes required, other times just the apple cable. iPod needs Bluetooth to connect wirelessly and the car needs to be late 2010 on.

Oh and you posted in the e85/6 section. (Previous model) plus your sig says '3.5i' it's not a 3.5 it's a 35i (3.0 twin turbo)

Ah. thanks for that, I posted this just after I joined up to the forum and was still finding my way around the various forum threads.

Thanks for the Y cable info.

Can a Mod move this or should I just leave it.
