The zed is not unique when it comes to broken springs!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

My 2007 M Roadster
Discovered at 70,000 miles and Inspection II that left rear spring was broken.
2 new OEM springs cost $264 including shipping plus I paid my local independent mechanic $90 to install.
Total cost = $354
Total install time for both springs was about 1.25 hours.

Spotted at Inspection 2 at 73k, rear spring has snapped on my 09 coupe. Excuse for an upgrade I guess.

Just had our coupe in for MOT and oil service this morning (44500 miles) and Rybrook at Warwick have just informed me that one rear spring is broken, unknown which side at present, but will be replaced under warranty  so a bit of a result.

Another one bites the dust...rear LHS spring snapped. Noticed it when fitting new brake disc (96k miles). Drives normally though. No extra cash to replace it yet.
I'm not spoilt! Its just a cheat code for NFS3 that stuck with me :D

How near to the tyre is the spring?
I've had cars with broken springs that were very close to the side wall of the tyre.

Just looked on the MOT site and saw that the previous owner of mine had springs replaced due to MOT failure because one snapped.

It's a definite failure as a broken Spring can dislodge and do all sorts of damage.

perhaps bmw should replace them for nothing, as imo they dont finish the ends off correctly , coils used to be finished off by feathering them flat, that way they sat properly with even pressure on the coil.

In my experience, all automotive coil (road) springs tend to break at the same point!
It's nothing unique to Bmw.

yes it saves them money not doing them properly , and more profit on us having to replace them.

If they were ground flat they would break in the same place!
