Bluetooth Pairing Keeps Failing

Driving me nuts this, just thought I would ask just in case someone knows the answer before I go to the dealers,

I have a Nokia 6303 classic, which I understand is not a problem according to bmw, I put the screen in pairing mode, put the code in the phone, but it just keeps coming up with pairing failed, anyone any ideas?

Literally took me about 6 attempts to pair my iphone. You need patience in abundance sometimes.

I will have another go, but believe me I have tried more than 6 times :headbang:

Remember to detect it on your phone too as well as from the computer in the car :) Just in case, i didn't first time, lol, noob!

My 3GS iPhone connects fine. The connection did become a bit iffy during the snow & ice period we had in Jan. Could temp be a factor?

Shidevil, yes I havr detected it from the phone

Jan_tekin, no I havent, and i  dont know how to do it, will do a bit of research

Not sure if this will apply to a Nokia but on my Samsung phone as well as pairing the devices I had to 'authorise' the car bluetooth connection on the phone before it would work properly. It was in the options menu for the device detected. Now that it is an authorised device in my phone it connects automatically to it when I switch the ignition on provided the bluetooth is switched on.
Before that I had trouble getting them to pair??

Very valid point, & that's true of a lot of phones. Shouldn't stop it pairing - as usually it needs to be paired before you get this although some are different - but certainly worth running through phone options to make sure.

Thanks for that, went through the settings (options) and it is authorised, still not pairing  think a trip to the dealers is on the books.

Somewhere here there's a keypress to reset the ULF too - it removes all paired phones.

Might be worh a try if you can find it.

Did you find out how to delete the current phones.

You need to get it to the pairing mode, hold down the pairing button for 3 seconds, the turn the ignition on and release the button after a further 3 seconds, should now be in pairing mode, now hold down the paring button for a further ten seconds and you should hear 3 beeps and it should say “paired devices deleted” then turn the ignition off and repair the phone.

hear is a manual : http://www.e38.org/ULFOwnerManual.pdf

Thanks Jan_tekin. deleted paired devices, still comes up with pairing failed :headbang:

Maybe needs a software update, I think the dealer visit is looming

worth a try but i don't think it can be updated, have you tried a different phone just to rule out a problem with the car.

Is the phone at latest software level ...BMW compatibility list suggests they tested at level v10.10

wegras, yes checked the software version and thats fine.

This is the best bit, spoke to my dealers, they say they will have to run a full diagnostic check and update the software, £198 !!! they say it can take 2 hours, must be the slowest computer on this planet, independant here I come
