Transport Mode Help (Slough Berkshire)
Hi my car (z4 2007 2.0i) recently came back after some body repairs. Now its heater, ac, remote key, rear windscrenn heater etc not working, some kind members here have explained that these are typical symptoms of transportmode.
this is my first z4 and i have zero technical knowledge of the cars, I recently got back from abroad and have to start work next week so I need this sorting out ASAP.
I am based in slough berkshire and I would really apreciate if someone could help in deleting transport mode.
I am willing to pay with cash and a lot of grattitude.
Many thanks
Ather

Sorry to here of your troubles, but I would take it back to the repair shop and say it's not fixed. Or contact your insurance company (if used) and say the car needs more work

Yup, it's gone into transport mode because the battery has been low/disconnected, and TBH as part of the repair, I'd want it sorting.

I did but they are saying it's not accident related. They checked it and claimed car has on going electrical issues.
I only found out about transport mode while searching on this forum.

Yes definitely, I think they are not BMW specialist so they don't know about transport mode, car never had any issues before the accident. When I told them this, their response was like almost accusing me of lying. I am not confident in their capability, that's why looking for help here.Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:44 pmThey are talking bollox! Hey, I recently had the same problem as you. Took it to a garage and they had never heard of transport mode etc, tried to make me replace the air conditioning control unit or something like that.ather wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 1:06 pmYes definitely, I think they are not BMW specialist so they don't know about transport mode, car never had any issues before the accident. I tried looking on here but everybody was too far away. In the end I took it to a bmw specialist garage who confirmed it was transport mode and cleared the problem in 2 minutes and charged me £36. I would recommend trying your local garages until you find somebody who knows what transport mode is, from that point its easy good luck

Transport Mode Help (Slough Berkshire)
thanks, yes I am hoping someone from forum who knows about this issue can help me. The garage said it will take two hours to put this right, but what i have researched so far, it shouldn’t take more than 10 to 20 mins???? I don’t mind paying but I am not confident if the garage guys are capable of doing this ....so I rather get it sorted from someone who knows what they are doing.Rich61 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 5:38 pm This might help or at least give you an idea of whats involved.

I have had really bad luck with this car so far, I wanted to buy Z4 for over 6 years now but other commitments meat I couldn’t, I only bought it few weeks ago after years of planning. One week after I bought the car A drunk driver drove straight into the back of it while it was parked out the house.
Now the insurance has repaired that but they have returned the car with this issue, I went back to the garage which repaired the car and told them certain functions like remote key, heater, ac, rear windscreen heater, defogger etc are not working but the claimed my keys have flat batteries and car must have ongoing electrical issues.....when insisted that everything was working fine their reply was like I was lying.... then I researched about it myself and found out about this transport mode....I have found this forum very helpful
Let’s hope it will be sorted soon, once again thank you so much for your help

You could try talking to the assessor at your insurance company who let the garage sign off on the work - tell him that its gone into transport mode and explain how this happens and that it is a result of the repairs and that the repairers (who I assume are their preferred repairers) don't want to know and hence how disappointed you are - and what is he going to do to complete the repair.
If he doesn't know about 'transport mode' offer to send him a extract from one of the threads on here. You have nothing to lose.
I'm sure other members on here would wish to know the firm that repaired it in case they are unfortunate enough to have their car scheduled for the same place - at least they can tell their insurers 'no chance' and explain why.

Car was repaired by autotech accident repair centre. I am including a link to their website below . I spoke to insurance on Friday they said their engineer will call me back on Monday, I hope they know what transport mode is.Crazy Harry wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:20 pm You could try talking to the assessor at your insurance company who let the garage sign off on the work - tell him that its gone into transport mode and explain how this happens and that it is a result of the repairs and that the repairers (who I assume are their preferred repairers) don't want to know and hence how disappointed you are - and what is he going to do to complete the repair.

But the garage was adamant that it's not accident related. Quite disappointed with their service.

It may not be accident related but is most likely (as Mike DLV noted above) due to their actions. You might not get a bent chassis from an accident but you could get your car back with one if the repairers drop it of a lift. They drop it they repair - they put in to transport mode they get it out - simples.ather wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:37 pmCar was repaired by autotech accident repair centre.
