So I've struggled over the last few days to get all the information I really required before starting so thought I would collate it all in one place for future reference for others.

First of all, I found that parts incredibly difficult to find second hand for a worthwhile price so everything was bought from Sopers Lincoln

The Basics: The parts you need as a minimum to get the bumper on and fitted
Bumper: 51113448818 = £433.90 inc VAT
Headlight washer covers: Left: 51117078261 Right: 51117078262 = £12.49 each inc VAT
Centre Mesh: 51117895842 = £45.99 inc VAT
Under tray: 51717895804 = £98.50 inc VAT

The Full Package:
Air Duct: Left: 51118044701 Right: 51118044702 = no price yet
Air Duct Bracket: Left: 51717837531 Right: 51717837532 = no price yet
Arch under tray: Left: 51718046083 Right: 51718046084 = no price yet (your current ones may fit already, mine didn't and required a tiny bit of modifying)

Painting:
When getting your bumper and washer covers painted, you should expect to pay anywhere from £200-£400 depending on your location and the company/quality. Price doesn't always equal quality, so try and use somewhere that has been recommended. A larger company has a reputation to look after, a man in a shed may not be as accountable (but may do a very good job)

Fitting:
First you need to remove your old bumper: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1071 by mister_roger
The fitting is exactly the same but in reverse (sounds like a Haynes manual)

How long does it take?:
I can have a bumper off within 10 minutes, re fitting takes a little bit longer as you want to make sure alignment is perfect. The under tray parts and brackets can add about 30 minutes to the job. I would recommend giving yourself a full day if it is your first time (depending on how competent you are with this sort of thing). I would also recommend a dry warm day as no one likes cold fingers or a wet back.

Extras:
You may want to go all out and replace all the bolts, nuts, screws and brackets. It's really not necessary even on a car that is 8 years old. All part numbers can be found in the links below:

Your going to need to reattach your number plate, and unfortunately this means drilling into your shiny new bumper! You may want to drive with no number plate instead, it looks better and I know of several forumites who have done for years with no trouble. If legal is the way for you, I would recommend http://skenedesign.com/FPBracket/Euro.shtml as it leaves no visible holes when removed. you will need a Euro size medium.

Part number sources:

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mod ... g=51&fg=75

Prices are correct at time of posting from Soper Lincoln and include discount, other dealers may offer similar or better prices. While most parts can be delivered free to your door, the bumper may carry a delivery charge of around £70 if you cannot collect.

Getting more and more tempted to fit the M-bumper... the oem standard bumper looks sooo boring...
Seems quite affordable at M-style? http://www.mstyle.co.uk/acatalog/info_B02BM015.html

Yes, but also heard that the price online differs from the price on the phone... so not too sure...

Spoke to M Style before ordering mine. Price on their website is incorrect (surprise, surprise !!). The full kit they advertise does not include the undertray. In the end went to Soper's. Full kit from them including undertray was cheaper than M Style.

How have people got on with the gap that's left when you swap from Z4 under tray to Z4M. The normal Z4 under tray has a rubber seal which sit up tight against the underside if the air con rad. It was something I wasn't expecting to come across but I had some sheet rubber in the garage so I did this.....

Before with the gap.

After with the sheet rubber, I screwed it to the plastic flap on the underside of the rad and then put some hammerite on the screw heads to stop rust. Hardly noticeable with bumper on and grill in the way.

Did you fit the Z4 M under tray? I could have left the original in place and made something to connect to the panel and bumper but decided to go for the M under tray. Kinda wish I didn't bother now I have a better idea of how it all mates up but oh we'll.

I left the gap there too! An see light under the radiator coming from the wheel arch though, so have been meaning to do something similar for a while!

It didnt take long to do at all. Where the rubber comes down and sits in the bottom of the tray I drilled 6 drainage holes as I looks like an area which could hold water.

I guess it's sealed to stop water spraying up the engine and possibly to block out air.

One thing I could add to this was that I disconnected the fog lights to fit the M bumper and was expecting an error warning light so I had some resistors read to plug in, but nothing no warning lights. When you press the fog button you can hear a relay click, I guess this circuit is not can-bus protected? This was perfect I litterially bagged up the plugs and hid them away.

I have a rear fog lights button from a Z4M LCM so I will be doing a little DIY with it where I can pop out the 2 fog light buttons on my current LCM and replace with the larger sinle button for the rear fog. My Z4M bumper won't be coming off the car when I sell so I'm keen to make things as neat as possible.
