Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
Just fitted mine on a 2008 N46. Worked perfectly. Took a bit longer than some others experienced but there was also a tad more to do than on earlier cars. One happy bunny getting set for the long distance weekend trips.
Sold a pair of soft top side covers and now retired.

Ocean BMW in Plymouth.
They said it was £240 ish for the parts which I assume included a new cowling rather than cutting out the old one and they had allowed up to 3 hrs to fit it.
Bought the stalk & fitted it myself this morning and it's as easy as all the posts say it is.
All fitted before my cuppa was cold enough to drink!!

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
Can I suggest you go back into the dealership & ask to speak to the Branch Manager. Explain your experience & how simple it had been for you to do the job - you wanted to make him aware that these kind of experiences give Main Dealers a bad name & are not exactly likely to encourage people like you to one day buy their new car from them.Oddballs wrote:Ocean BMW in Plymouth.

Your objective: To see if they offer to make amends by giving a competitive price on future servicing - don't ask, just see if they offer it. If they don't give you the time of day, say as you're leaving that you're a member of this forum & will be sharing your experiences.
Best of luck...

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
will post some piccies when i pick the car up Thursday
Really don't fancy cutting into stuff and wiring looms, hmmmm. Had cruise on an old clio so a must for me, don't want to have to use a stealer. might phone some independents around here

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
BMW Dealer parts section wants £197 for the 3 parts which isnt bad he discounted them.
however the service guys want 1 hour to fit, 1 hour for coding and 1/2 an hour extra for other bits. puts it over £500 still.
even told them it doesnt need coding but their instructions saysit does. might have to try and do this myself

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
Just two parts needed - stalk and small wiring loom. No need for new cowling. Should cost less than £100 from BMW. Also, no need for coding. Job will take you around an hour if you do it the first time, obviously less if you've done it before.
