Considering perhaps exchanging my 23i for the 30i as there doesn't seem to be a massive difference in price. Has anyone owned both and think there is a noticeable difference? Or is it just worth keeping the 23i?

I've had both and although I enjoyed the 23i I much preferred the 3.0i and it was worth the upgrade. That said, it's down to personal preference so you really need to try one

I can vouch on the reliability side. My 3.0 E89 did 135,000 miles in 3 years and never once missed a beat.
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

Would you say part ex is the way to go? Black 23i, 50k miles, 2009 plate?

Part ex will usually cost you money over selling privately then buying for cash and negotiating a discount. Might be worth trying to sell your 23I first?
