Wrap life?
How long does a wrap last?
I'd always assumed a wrap lasted as long as paint. Now I've been told it doesn't and that a wrap's good for 3 years at best.
If this is so, it's an expensive game.

your always better off with a respray albeit it is expensive to get a proper respray done. the same can be said for wrapping. people usually wrap because you can't get the type of finish or colour that they want with paint.
their is also plastidip too. again it's hard to do properly but it is a lot cheaper as the material doesn't cost that much to buy. time and expertise is where the money goes so if you can do it yourself it's cheap. again plastidip won't last as long as a wrap never mind paint.

Wrap life?
From 3M.
FAQ 1080 for Consumers - 3M
The expected performance life—that is, the length of time the 3M wrap should look good and stay adhered—is up to 7 years if properly maintained.

By "properly maintained" they mean never driven. If you use your car more regularly and looked after you can expect about 5 years so I've heard

Wrap life?
I considered a wrap before I decided on a full, panels off respray. I already knew about the 3yr life thing, but I read somewhere that that's the max time it can be left on BEFORE it becomes a problem to take it off without damage, so theoretically it will last a lot longer.
But as said, nothing beats a full and proper respray..

Wrap life?
I had the rear bumper wrapped on my M then had it removed after three years and a smaller area wrapped. The paint was fine after it was removed. I've been told to expect the wrap to last up to 5 years. I did ask them to clarify and they said it depends on how it's looked after.
The M had sections wrapped for over 6 years when I sold it so a wrap can last a while.
