An extra 10mpg at 10000 miles with current fuel prices comes to more like £315 + another £115 extra tax plus the inevitable insurance uppage of say £100 this comes to more like £530 a year extra.... very roughy!
It comes from Rons special calculator :D

Yes the one that prices petrol at £1.20 a gallon !
That's maybe how I sneaked the 35is under swmbo radar!

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

What you use the car for will have a strong influence but my must have options that suit my needs:-
Auto box, Sat Nav, Decent Sound, idrive, Bluetooth for the Phone and heated seats are a must .

I would also say that the Smarttop module is a very important aftermarket accessory for me as is the set of Fitted Luggage.

Because it's a sporty car I prefer less bling inside, I like the heated seats but nav & idrive weren't important for me.
I rarely get a chance to use it but cruise would have been nice, I have the professional radio in my car & it's fine, far better than the business radio in my previous e89
M sport styling looks great & the M seats are brilliant

i recently got my 2016 M Sport 2L, wanted as a daily driver so need cheeper running costs.
when i looked what was available nationwide i was looking for 19" wheels as they look better, heated seats if it was to have leather seats (not as esential with alcantara) Lady parking as i feel ites esential with a daily if you care for your paintwork. M sport body as i think it looks so much better. only down side with 19" plus M sport suspension is a harsh ride and noisy tyres. my only regret with it being a daily is would should have gone auto (not a thing i would have done with a weekend car). engine size was based on economy as with the 4 pots its never going to rip up the tarmac. well thats just me and what do i know about the horseless carriage.

as stated economy for a daily, price when i got it (24600 with delivery milage 12K under list) and no 4 pot was going to appear fast after having 2Atoms
it was to replace a mini paceman diesel so its fast enough compared to that.
i do feel privileged to drive one as a daily drive and i am very happy i made the change while there were still som new ones available

Hi there,

I went for the 28i. I spent a bit more but I got a lovely one. I would normally of gone straight for the 35iS but this one popped up quite local with an incredible spec. I took it for a spin and it's plenty quick enough!

IMO anything sub 6 seconds 0-60 is quick. I think the ZF 8 speed on the 28i is 5.3 seconds.

It's effortlessly quick. Happy to take anyone out in it who is local, it's really surprising just how good the 4 pot is!

Wind deflector and Parking sensors are must haves for me

Other nice to haves:
- Sat Nav is good, was too expensive when new
- Heated seats are good when roof down on a cold day, if you do this
- 17" wheels for a better ride

I upgraded from a 25i to a 28i to a 35is and they are all totally different.

If you have the cash for the initial purchase and running costs then the 35is is without doubt the one to go for. There is nothing quite like it.

If not then you have a straight choice. Do you want performance or the kudos of having a six pot and the sound that accompanies it?

Personally if you can have the 35is go for it, you won't regret it, if not then the 28i will not sound quite as good but the performance will be as close as you will get and not be too concerned about using the loud pedal. To be honest I was going to replace my 28i with another until I found my present one for the same price.

Have a drive of them all before deciding and enjoy

When I went to change from a 3.0 E89 last August, the salesman told me that the 35is was a different kettle of fish - I was very very sceptical.

I'm not sceptical now

My E89 is a 2.0 and it is my daily drive. I love it. I can't compare to the bigger engines, but it is plenty powerful for me. Most of my time I am nose to tail with someone else, but when I do get clear road or want to overtake it feels responsive, fast and fun.

Because I spend so much time in the car, I really appreciate the quality interior and I love the extra touches that don't necessarily come as standard
Essential for me are the heated sports seats and front and rear parking sensors - the car is a new shape for me and these have helped me protect my investment.
Wind defector is an essential and I would have bought one, if one hadn't come with the car, but this is an easy, if expensive add.
I have 19 inch wheels for summer which look great and I'm glad they came with the car.
I enjoy the extra storage, cruise and extended lighting, but I don't know if I would miss them if they weren't there
I don't have Idrive, but I have a sat nav, so I don't know what's else I am missing so don't regret not having it.
I don't have heated steering wheel, but with the vents well directed, I have never felt the lack of one and I drive in the cold with the roof down.
Whatever you go for, I'm sure you will love it
