Very friendly price but 6k out of my budget, which although a lovely car is too much of a stretch.

Sorry OP to take over the thread.

Not sure what that means tbh john. If your meaning the 35IS thats for sale on the forum with 60 odd thousand miles as ive said I will be doing 600-1000 miles every week just commuting. I also want to go on a few road trips or 3-4 thousand miles and in the time I want to keep the car will be in big figures and no warranty so its not really that appealing to me. I dont want a higher milage car and tbh you've been very helpful but I will buy the car that is right for me and if that means waiting then thats fine.
Just pulling your leg about mine Tom, only a bit of fun, I know it's a lot of cash to find, no offence intended.

Thanks very much for all the input. I have decided to be 'sensible' and stick with a slightly older model.

I have considering these two at present:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... =Z4&page=1

In essence, one is a 3.0i with M-sport spec (1 previous owner), the other is a 3.5i with basic spec (4 previous owners). Both at relatively low miles, sounds like good conditions, similar price.

Again I appreciate that this would be a very personal choice, but I would like to hear your opinions and any pitfalls I should look out for.

Many thanks again!

With a 15k budget i wouldn't go for any of them, I would be patient and wait for the right car to come along and it will

As it has been mentioned already, the least you would be looking for are the sports seats. The 35i you looking at has been around for ages so there must be a reason(S) for it, overpriced - very poorly specced.

With your budget I would be aiming for a 35i at the least or a fully loaded 3.0i, And when the right car comes in with the right price you will have to move in VERY QUICKLY - Good bargains were going within 1, 2 or 3 days max when I was in the market (2 - 3 Months ago). I bought my 35i the same day it was advertised !!!

Both low miles and the 35I looks particularly nice. Will you be happy with no nav and no I drive? I paid £16k for a dct 35i with decent spec and 30k miles on it this June.
I think this time of year heading into winter you could pick up something similar for around your budget if you're patient. FWIW the dct box is great if you're not anal about having to change your own gears :)

The 35iS has the 1M engine code, and everything else everyone mentioned. 35i's with high spec are quite rare as most people upgraded to the iS. Haven't driven a 35i so I can't comment on that - went straight for the best

Really? I did not know that. I do quite like mine!
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

You'd struggle to get a 35is for £15k. But that's the one to buy if you have the budget. A 35i can be remapped to 360-380bhp very easily if you want.

Having just gotten hold of a 35iS - i would certainly recommend it.

If you can stretch the budget, which i managed to do..... it's an awesome machine.

I really cant mention anything as such that has disappointed me in the first months ownership!

Loving it..... :driving:

The dealer has just dropped the price for another £1K, and there's a new one on the market.

I'd be interested in hearing which one would you go for, and why? Thanks!

Hi, im having the car in your first link delivered this week, not bothered about nav/gadgets-its the low miles of 19k that sold it for me.
I loved the n52 engine in my e85 & wanted it in its replacement :)
Will put up some pics when ii arrives.

The 6-speed manual in my 35i is just a pleasure to use. It feels robust and has a slight mechanical feel with a small amount of resistance with each change... but that is what Bimmer manuals are all about, you feel like you're part of the driving experience.

I constrast that to the knife-through-butter 'box of my Audi TT... you might as well buy an auto and be done with pretending to drive :P

But whether your in 'chilled out' mode, or when scaring Boxster drivers with the hammer down the character of the 'box has not changed since I had the car 4 months and 13k miles ago :driving:

The links that I have just posted are different to the ones I posted before.

Both seem fairly low spec but the white interior looks better. Go with the highest spec possible within your budget, it will be easier to sell down the line. Won't suggest a particular model as it would be very biased
