I wonder why ?

Post by ric19 » Wed Sep 21, 2016 11:42 am

Just had my 28i in for its 2nd MOT and was perusing the (single) Z4 brochure that was left, and was looking at the car specs and noticed all the range including the 35is had 70A batteries but the 28i was the only one to have an 80A battery, cant for the life of me think why that would be, any thoughts ?

it's obvious. 28is is pipe-smokers choice.
extra juice required when pipe-smoker lighter/package specced.

Mis-print maybe?

The US brochure available from here says 70aH for all:

Stop start technology used in the 4 cylinder models maybe requires a stronger battery??

Same engine in essence as the 2.0 and 1.8 and they use stop/start too and they are 70A batteries

There are different battery capacities out there because when I enquired about adding Servotronic to my 23i car, BMW came back and said not only a software upgrade, but also need to upgrade battery and alternator.
So is Servotronic an option on the 4 potters.

Most likely because the 28i has stop start requiring a more powerful battery. My 08 mini had a more powerful battery for this reason.

From now on I need 6 cylinders + in my life!

As I said earlier. .intrinsically the same engine as a 18 and a 20 and they are 70A so why is a 28 out of the whole range 80A ? All the 2L are Stop/Start so that doesn't really add up does it ?
