Oh I do hope it's the 35is but not at any cost !
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Don't worry - it keeps going 'ping' 'ping' 'ping' on my radar!john-e89 wrote:ronk wrote: If it's not then I will walk away and either keep the current 3.0l, go Porsche even get a pipe, slippers and a Mercedes

All joking apart it's certainly an option if this all goes belly up.

There is only one downside to having a 35is...
You wont have a Z4 to upgrade to.....
Awesome car and you will never get bored of how it drives,a 3.0 is not even in the same ballpark..

You can expect:
1. Massive acceleration on dual carriageways with roundabouts. Exit roundaround, smash the throttle, warp speed.
2. more visits to petrol stations
3. Pointless gearchanges for sound effect (remember when you were 17?)
4. Realising that there is no going back with bhp. 340 now the new entry level.

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

I think I said that the sales wallah said chalk and cheese! It seems he may be right reading this - only trouble is those first 1200 miles!Z4M-2006 wrote:There is only one downside to having a 35is...!

Yes, the chaps in the states continue to push the boundaries. I've now seen a 700hp 335i auto with RB turbos, lsd, bolt on upgrades only, inlet and e85 blasting a viper on the drag strip. Mind boggles.ronk wrote:Oooooh !stuartinzg wrote:... And then when you are used to the 340, a quick update puts you at 400
That would make her ladyships 335 feel like a limp lettice .
SSP performance have 1000ftlb clutch packs for our gearboxes....
I think with 20k you could have a reliable 700+ hp 35is...
But now I'm focused on property so I must resist the urge.

That would be an insane car, fun for a bit but ultimately not usable. That is if you lived long enough to grow tired of it of course...

John, 600 WHP (700+ crank), very usable - did you notice how stable it is under power? I think with the right map (say 400 on comfort and 600 on sport) this is perfect https://youtu.be/e7CR7X5w1J4?t=15m28sjohn-e89 wrote:Do it Stuart...scratch the itch, you won't rest until you've built the mad as a box of frogs thing...!!stuartinzg wrote:Yes, the chaps in the states continue to push the boundaries.
