Hi all,

Just wanted to let you hear my 2011 3.0 highline after the back box delete. At first I thought WOW!! Then I thought that the drone was REALLY annoying. But then I got used to driving it to the tune of the exhaust and am actually really enjoying it. I hope you do to.

I hope this works. If not, please bare with. :D

That's the one thing all back box deletes seem to do, and that's drone. This is the reason I took another path

I must admit, my initial thought was its blowing but after checking, all good. Sounds a little different once warmed up but loving the growl.

I've heard some people have the backbox opened up and different mods done such as wrapping a pipe or removing the insulation. If I were to do it again knowing what I know now I think I'd try that. But then again, until you've done it, you never know! :D

I checked out Youtube for an idea on the sounds but as Maniac says, it's hard to tell without actually listening to it for real, what it really sounds like.

In summary, I like it BUT the drone at the wrong revs can be extremely loud.

In all honesty, I hadn't heard of them until you posted. Do you know if anyone who's had a custom box fitted? It would be nice to hear what they sound like.

Long life make custom exhaust for any car to how the owner wants it to sound/perform There are a few different companies about now that do the same.
I had one made for a T5R years ago, sounded like a jet engine on full chat yet nice and quite on motorways.
Cost me £400 for a full system but that was 15 or so years ago.

I'm in this predicament also. Rear silencer removal too loud and too much drone but I think sport silencers maybe not worth it. What about removing centre box and sport silencers at rear?

Yours sounds great btw

I had a Longlife fitted to the Z4M, they will make the sound as loud or as quiet as you want. All loud systems tend to drone somewhere in the rev range though.
