From E85 to E89
Hi, thinking of upgrading my 3.0 E85 to 3.0 E89. I know a few of you lot have done this. Any regrets or is it a wise move. Love the E85 but fancy a change (I think) and think the E89 is the next move. What do you think ??
Cheers

Try one out after 3 E85s & 1 E86 i'm more than happy with my switch to the E89 , major step forward in cabin feel , space + quality
The sport spec seats are how the previous Msport ones should have been
Overall ride is far superior ( I'm on Se spec) in a more Gt kind of way
Doesn't feel as go-kart / nimble in the twisties but with some practice & effort you get over that
No regrets here

Changed 2004 E85 2.2 to 2010 E89 35is and no regrets. E89 is more GT car and E85 feels more go-kartish, like mr wilks said.

Very happy with my change, but then my E85 was only a 2ltr.
Ride smoother, even on run flats, more cabin space..

Both great cars, if I'm honest though I wouldn't go back unless it's the M
Don't go for anything other than the 3.0 engine and jump at the 35iS if it's in budget

The e89 has great looks, feels like a GT coupe roof up, sounds good roof down and has a really nice interior. No regrets swapping from a Z4M.
Yas Marina Blue 35i.

I made this same move four years ago - I'm glad I did and have no regrets - other than to say I think I should have waited and got a 35is - that's on order and will be with me soon!Johnbmwz4 wrote:Hi, thinking of upgrading my 3.0 E85 to 3.0 E89. I'll let you know if you should just skip the 3.0l E89 bit
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I made the jump earlier this year and have no regrets. Feels a more solid and serious car, but still a fun drive. Also seems to command a bit more respect on the road - in the outside lane I get people moving over when they see me coming (not that I'm driving like a maniac!).
