So I know its a crime commuting in a z4 35i and doing an 'economy run' but on the other hand I get to use it every day and over several tanks of standard unleaded I'm getting 375 - 400 miles to a tank.
That's approx 75% motorway cruising with the rest around-town trundling.
Anyone better that?? Am I the only fool commuting in a z4

If I get over 300 miles I'm happy.
What sort of speed do you cruise at?

70 - 80 mph for the most part, and 50 through the roadworks each way on the commute. Town driving bumbling around at 15 - 30 but with a light right foot. The sport mode only goes on at the weekendR.E92 wrote:If I get over 300 miles I'm happy.

Manual box in the 35i needs positive changes but it's super smooth.

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

Getting 29mpg round the town and 35/37 on motorway runs.
Try doing the same experiment in sport mode. You will find you get a couple of mpg better. Why I don't know but it's true.

I've only got a 23i but I thought it was a myth an E89 could hit 30mpg!

I did just over 50 mpg to Silverstone a couple of years ago on CC mostly from Edinburgh. To be honest I've also got the tank now so any figure over 20mpg in the Z'd (currently at 20.3mpg after it returned from the recent update) is a thumbs up for me.
When we got to Silverstone Classic and the GTR boys heard what mpg it was reading they just stood their opened mouthed if I get a decent run in it hopefully it'll be over 30mpg but I've been doing a bit of town driving since It's return from the garage so it's not a real reflection of the usual mpg reading.
But hey I also got 48.7mpg in a FN2 (Type R Civic) on a run from Essex to Edinburgh in 2008.

I drive my 20 mile each way commute in my 35iS and am yet to see over 30mpg when I fill up.
In fact, this week I managed 218 miles out of the tank, so just under 21mpg...
Average is about 27 on the work commute.

I'm a very happy commuter! 40 miles a day on A roads into Birmingham. At the moment its seems to be doing 32mpg. Our trip into wales last week -again mainly A road, but little traffic, we did 34. I'm quite happy with that as it is similar to my previous car, a Golf.

I managed 42 mpg on the way from Liverpool to Kendal for the National Meet. Very impressive although I bumbled up the M6 at 65_75 most of the way.
Wasn't quite so good on the two driving days

this is actual miles divided by gallons. the computer numbers are WAY off from that.

US or UK gallons because 22mpg is stupidly low for UK gallons. Hell even 22us mpg is because that's 10.69l/100km where as on a mix of urban and rural driving I'm getting 9.11l/100km and on my one long motorway run I got 6.92l/100km!robertd33 wrote:in my 2013 35is, i get
