Couldn't agree more ,but that's BMW garages for you . Do you have a local indy who could do the job apart from the parts cost if none available from aftermarket there labour rates will be cheaper.

Cheaper from Soper perhaps?

Normally a big fan of Soper but still waiting for them to call back despite multiple attempts to get a price from them.

Spoke to Sytner again today they were very helpful to be fair car is booked in for next Thursday. Just biting the bullet and getting it all sorted putting it down as one of those things. Has made me realise having a warranty is the way forward and not just keeping a pot of money for maintenance and repairs to one side. Actually having both is the way forward !

Would shocks be included and fixed with a warranty or are they classed the same as tyres and brakes?

Depends on warranty but BMW warranty comp covers them up to 100k miles.

Warranty is a complete must on these cars. Nothing is cheap on the Z4.

The warranty on mine has saved me thousands, probably over 10k by now. Just had an adaptive damper replaced which is another £450+Labour (£650?) on the total.

Sorry to drag this thread up again and remind you of the sad times philip27, but just got mine back from a big service to be told one of my front shocks has a big leak too. 800 to replace the one so I'm considering swapping them all for non adaptive system considering I'm at 72k miles and the others will no doubt go soon too.

Has anyone else attempted this and can shed some light on the process and is the end result a better ride anyway?

I've just bought some Bilstein B6 fronts for my non adaptive 23i.
£273 for the pair and will fit them myself asap.
Going over road humps there's a sound like a child stamping in mud.

I replaced the rears some time ago the originals seemed a bit rubbish.

If you have an IS then you had adaptive suspension (EDC), so is that now disabled with an emulator? Like you get with the KW kits?

And what's the ride like now comparatively?

I bought oem shocks, so EDC working as it used to. Springs has nothing to do with EDC.

Just drove few miles to home yesterday as it was raining. Going for little testing today.

Ride feels bit smoother then it used to. I use Sport or Sport+ a lot and then you'll notice the difference. I like it
