2009 Brochure/Spec?

Post by flybobbie » Mon May 16, 2016 7:48 am

I have done a vin check, my 2009 is not fitted with Servotronic.
The clue for me is the battery capacity, mine is the lower and I would have needed the higher capacity.

2009 Brochure/Spec?

I've looked but cannot find, does anyone have links to the specs for the 2009 registered cars?

I'm looking to check the spec on a prospective purchase - initial check suggests that auto wipers and cruise control had to be specified (not included as standard) on the Sdrive 3.5Si DCT, is that correct? Similarly auto dim mirror is an option?

Thanks for your help.

Btw what car is it you are looking at the 35i or the 35is? Only reason I ask is that the 35is was not released until 2010.

I've just done a random scan of cars on Autotrader, it would seem that MY10 cars have servotronic on them by MY09 do not. Wonder what made BMW change their mind and add it. Considering 2009 was the first run
Deep Sea Blue sDrive35is - I LOVE IT! Best car I've ever owned :) - Gone
RRS V8 Supercharged - Gone
Abarth 595 Competizione - Gone
Yas Marina Blue M4 Coupe - Gone

Current:
Protonic Blue i8
Amethyst 997
F56 JCW Challenge (19 of 52)

Still Shy and retiring

Probably complaints of heavy steering at low speed.

I am looking at a 35i with DCT and Adaptive Suspension as options. No servotronic which I wasn't seeing as that important. I thought this was a nice spec but this is before I learned of the 35is. I am also worried about picking up a car in its first year.

After consideration I still think the deal on the 35i is good enough to go for so will be pressing the purchase button soon. I'd love some of the fantasy options but price and waiting for a car to become available are against me.

Servotronic - that was a sideline question from flybobbie. It was an interesting point though - Servotronic was no longer an option in the 2014 prices and shown as included and listed under efficient dynamics - so perhaps they included it to reduce overall emissions/consumption.

I think the upside of a first year car is that when built they were probably on the ball and all the parts to spec.
As time passes a bit of cost cutting and perhaps less care in assembly/checking may take place, the old familiarity breeds comtempt situation.

Perhaps Servotronic became standard to simplify the software install and reduce the number of different parts, eg battery alternator variations on the production line.

Having driven both my 2009 and a nearly new car with servo tronic last year I couldn't tell the difference hence why I thought they all had it.

2009 Brochure/Spec?

I bought the car in the end and all is good :-). Only unexpected difference in spec is that there is no boot release switch inside the car.
I would like to make the roof squeaking quieter but I guess that's a thing that is best just to learn to live with.
Thanks everyone for help during that difficult choosing the right car phase.

The internal boot release was only for the US market on the 2009 models, which can sometimes be a PITA. Not sure if this was ever changed on the later models.
