Z4 E89 (2012) Wheel Nut Covers

Post by jones89 » Thu Apr 14, 2016 3:58 pm

Hi all,

My first post to this forum as I am a new owner!

I was wondering if anyone could suggest some matt black wheel nut covers that actually fit/don't fall off! Bonus if they fit the locking wheel nuts too, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Many thanks

Can't say I've ever seen any advertised, not the most popular of accessories, but we have a Peugeot 308 at home that has wheel nut covers and a special tool to remove them. Haven't had the car long and we had a mobile wheel refurbisher come and it was he that showed me the covers. Quite surprised to be honest.
Just a thought if no-one comes up with any.

I sprayed the original bolts with matt paint after poking them through cardboard with the wheels off , they look great again now

Not matt black but could be sprayed. (Keep meaning to replace the security with standard or similar).

Hi jones89

Try this site, its where I got mine from, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TPI-UNIVERSAL ... 256edce333

I did away with the locking bolts and replaced each one with a standard bolt, so now all five are matching.

Thanks - is it 17mm or 19mm that are needed? I measured the bolts and I thought 17mm seemed like the size to go for, although I can't vouch for my measuring!

It's not the head size that's important, you need to make sure you get ones with the correct thread on.

Thread !!!! What's the thread got to do with anything, were talking plastic covers here to go over the wheel nuts, purely decorative. The web site will advise on the size to fit a BMW.

Very certain you need covers that fit a 17mm (across flats) bolt head.

Just do a search on fleabay, you will need 17mm covers but they won't fit the locking nuts.

I tried the covers a few years ago down to my bolts rusting. Waste of time  just take your bolts off one at a time & put them through a piece of card & spray paint them with a good tin of spray paint. As Tim says you can't cover the locker anyway. If you want the bolt covers I have 2sets in the garage you can have.

Got to disagree, I think the wheel nuts look far better with the covers on even if the bolts are painted nice and shiny, best way to find out is to get some and see which you prefer, they don't cost much and if there's some freebies going so much the better, but I know which I prefer, but you do need to cover all five to make them look right.

You can't get the covers on the lockers,I tried without success. :(

I've always covered my nuts on BMWs as I don't like them as standard,
