BMW changes supplier of coils for all engines/cars in group (who prev. used bosch part)

Us N54 owners are probably all too aware of the coil, injector and HPFP issues which plague our otherwise amazing engine...

Seems BMW has had enough and officially moved supplier, with every car in the whole group now using Eldor.

The NEW BMW ignition coil part number 12138657273 is now Eldor not Bosch.

Cars affected: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part?id ... 2138657273

Good thread on E90 post here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1202250

Highlights-
"There is dramatically a BIG difference in quality between the Bosch/BMW vs the Eldor/BMW coil
The Eldor snugged more tightly on the plug and is significantly heavier and more solid than the previous Bosch version
Surprisingly it the same coil used on the new Rolls Royce Wraith that puts out 625 hp"

I will probably buy 6 of these and look to change as a matter of course - I'm getting a lumpy idle and a few odd behaviours which could be coil issues - they are consumable anyway, keeping a few in the garage won't do any harm.

When my colleagues car ran rough a few months ago, a 23i at 12k mileage, I phoned the local BMW dealer who said they didn't stock the Bosch. Came back later to say they had been replaced by Delphi, at £50 each. Got from Europart £20 with alternate Bosch part no.
See Eldor made in Turkey, quality or just cheap?

Buried in the engine, I'm surprised they last as long as they do.
For £20 might treat them like spark plugs and replace say every 50k?

Apparently the quality is very good, Delphi are cheaper (but still better than Bosch) - you can get them on Amazon.
