Too personal really, if I was on the M25 every day the auto would be nice.

If it is a weekend toy for pure enjoyment, then there is only one option ....
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item

Its going to be an everyday car for commuting and pleasure. Ive heard the auto is better for mpg and i can imagine the paddles being fun.
I do agree though a drivers car should be manual, i just wasnt sure wether to try the auto out

Well for me the manual was perfect for my older E85 but when I bought my newer E89 35i it just had to have the stunning DCT auto box and I am so glad I chose it because it is the best auto I have ever driven and of course you can shift manually if you like once you try this auto you will love it oh and yes Sean mine has the paddles as well it's just waiting for you :)

My current (third) E89 is an auto after 2 manuals, wouldn't go back to manual now.

OK its not 'sports car' but then I aint no boy racer anymore, I just love the smooth effortless feeling as the car goes through the gears when pulling away. I've not noticed any improvement in fuel consumption but its no worse than the manual.

Hello ... As most forum members will know (God knows I bored the pants off everyone) that it took me a long time to warm to my 35is, but one area that I instantly thought was a great achievement of engineering was the 7 speed DCT, still amazes me now how the thing works
so just my opinion

It really is personal preference and I haven't had a Manual gearbox for two years now and I still hanker after and miss a manual almost everyday, but when I am stuck in heavy traffic I do appreciate an auto though.

I have owned a twin clutch gearbox, the ZF 6 and ZF 8 Auto`s and also driven the DCT in a M3 a few times but its always the three pedal manual that I have enjoyed and got the most overall satisfaction/reward from...I am a dinosaur it seems. :driving:

I think I'm right in saying that only the 35is has the DCT box, or maybe I will stand corrected. I think that the 2 litre models all have the 8 speed standard auto.

Yes I believe you are correct you get it on the 35i and the 35is (the 35is is the only option you get)

I'm lucky that I have a few vehicles that I drive, all manuals apart from my Z, I like manual boxes, but do like the ease of the auto in my car. If I want to play, I can either press the hooligan button (sports) or move the gear lever over so I can change gears like a manual , all be it without a clutch.

So Sean the only way to get the DCT is a 35i or 35is I wonder where you could find a stunning 35i with low miles immaculate throughout and with a DCT box Hmmmmm :)
