Could these be removed and chromed?
I know they can be removed on my model but could they be chromed?

Nah...

Welded on as part of the exhaust..

You can get exhaust tips and have them welded on to original pipes does not much money..
It's something I'm thinking of havin done as the matt tips piss me off

Likes: Noise - It's looks - DCT.

Dislikes: Water drips when window slightly open in rain (same on all E89s) but no big deal. Not a lot else - can't think of 3 TBH!

Same... polished the buggers for an hour, still looks crap. The new Supersprint exhaust will solve that

Thank you chaps, really appreciate the fantastic info supplied!

Things I look for as being important to me in a new car are (in no specific order), fun/good to drive, looks, sound, performance, build quality, refinement.

I think the 35is covers pretty much everything for me really. I think the only small concern for me was from reading various reviews the mention of noisy cabin and the car feeling twitchy/chassis overpowered but I don't know if this is just exaggeration or prevalent only on track or at 8/10ths etc?

But I'm liking the sound of a 35is ... alot!

Basic stage 1 tuning will see just under 400. Stage 2 will see 420+. You can get to 500 without too much pain. The LSD is problematic because you have to replace a lot of parts - it will cost almost £2k, but I think worth it ...

The 35iS is a great car for the money and a real head turner. It won't beat a Cayman around the track, but who cares?

Mine will evolve over the coming years. I will probably get a bigger car to replace my Astra and keep this as a fun project. Not much else ticks all the boxes as this does.
I like the sound of 400bhp! 8)

However, I've read in more than a few reviews that the chassis struggles to handle 340bhp so another 60bhp would sound too much for it?
How real are the issues reported on the road? (I won't track the car) How does it put its power down on surfaces that isn't bone dry?

You have the E diff to stop the wheelspin and to reign in the power... It copes admirably ..

Remember that you are shoving 400bhp through the rear wheels.. It's a lot for a car to cope with..
You can get the car to squirm about under power as the various aids try to stop you throwing into the nearest field, but at the end of the day your right foot is the best power modulator you can get...

Hmm..the cabin is noisey Zainster, it has a hollow tinny sound, it does'nt 'feel warm' in there tbh, you really need to try one IMO, it might not be a problem for you but I think you might be surprised at how it sounds for such an expensive car. That said it's sports GT car, not a limo obviously.

Keep us posted on what you do please.

It isn't uncontrollable, it isn't an Audi quattro either. An LSD will make a big difference, otherwise, flat out above 40 mph and it's OK. Get some decent tyres on there, helps a lot.

Pro's, Power, Sound, Cabin's such a nice place to be, feels special, Looks

Cons, Crashes through potholes with 19in wheels. But 19in for looks, 18in for comfort, Sound, (if it didn't sound so good I'm sure I could get another 5mpg !!!!!) No decent cup/bottle holders in cabin, only those useless things under the armrest.

My cabin is a great place to be IMO. No "tinny sound" and snug with Alcantara and leather seats. Only noise I hear is the exhaust and the hi-fi when it's on. Both sound pretty good to me.
