New Car Update
I have had my new Z4 for a few weeks now so I figured it was time for a bit of an update. Nothing to report in terms of mods I am afraid other than fitting a stubby, it has to be done.
In terms of the car though I am delighted with it. It feels very different to my old E85 2.5. Its certainly more of a cruiser and I am finding it far more comfortable to drive especially on long journeys. Even with the run flats and 19" wheels the ride is surprisingly quiet and smooth well until you hit a hole in the road.
Performance wise it certainly feels quicker the throttle feels a lot more responsive especially in sports mode. I also think the exhaust note is a bit more lively. The straight six is a gloriously smooth as ever. The car is not as agile through the corners but I think part of this is down to me. The car feels a lot bigger especially when driving down narrow streets and country lanes so I think I am being overly careful and still getting used to it.
Other than ditching the run flats at some point and lots of detailing I don't really have any plans for the car. I may look into upgrading the speakers at some point. The sound system whilst not bad is the not the best and this would be my only minor complaint so far. It has the business system with loads of speakers so I cant imagine how poor the standard system must be.
Overall I am delighted with my choice of upgrade. The car feels so special to get into and I have a massive smile when ever I drive it. I would recommend any one considering to change from an E85 to consider one especially if you are looking for more of a GT cruiser that you can still have some fun with.
Today I got it ready for winter giving it a good clean followed by auto glym treatment of super resin polish, extra gloss protection then finished with HD wax. As I have not uploaded any pictures since the day I did the deal on it here a few pictures of it after its clean today.

You've missed a bit mate, only I have no idea where...
Looks fantastic, showroom, love that crimson red! I notice there's no little cubby storage lid below the headlight switch, wonder if this was an update on later models?

Re: New Car Update
It's part of the 'extended storage package' and most people get that along with the 'comfort package'. I've checked the build of this car and neither the 'comfort package' or 'extended storage' were build options.jimbo1958 wrote:Good spot John.....couldn't be without that for my sunglasses.john-e89 wrote:I notice there's no little cubby storage lid below the headlight switch, wonder if this was an update on later models?

You're pretty lucky to get a bloody steering wheel without speccing one with BMW...Angie4m wrote:It's part of the 'extended storage package' and most people get that along with the 'comfort package'. If you think BMW are bad, don't ever option an Audi or Porsche...they properly take the piss.
I remember recently looking at a Golf R and S3, the options list is about 4 pages long!

Bloody 'ell, I didn't know there was one. Checked this morning on my way into work and there it was!john-e89 wrote:You've missed a bit mate, only I have no idea where...

Mind you, I tried to put my sunglasses in it (in their case) but they won't fit, not enough depth. I'll find something else to put in there.

Sadly this is true having now bought a porsche I realise how reasonable bmw are , eg in this price bracket I wonder how many other brands would have charged me for a DAB radiofredg wrote:john-e89 wrote: You're pretty lucky to get a bloody steering wheel without speccing one with BMW...
