35is tuning

Post by jamesbond » Sat Sep 12, 2015 1:58 pm

Hi

Thought this was a interesting site with good feedback from a 35is owner

http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/services/ ... 09/stage-1

DMS also offer a similar service

http://www.dmsautomotive.com/performanc ... p?make=bmw

They said use the 1M data graph as the 35is is very similar .... but they have one booked in next week so where happy to share the data once completed if the owner was ok

just thought this would be a good discussion thread :)

Hello

That DMS site is claiming over 600nm of torque which is a lot .... done some reasearch and the DCT can take over 700 Nm .. also the N54 is based very loosely on the M54 block regarding bore liners etc. Also the N54 in the 35is has forged internals .. this is stuff that I have read on other sites etc

Yes....

The N54 has a fully forged engine...

The USA boys are getting 800hp+ with extensive mods, and upgraded DCT clutch

Interesting articles.

Would you really want anymore than it's already got though?

Mines around 400bhp...

I would have whatever my pocket allowed, its only as fast as your right foot see's fit..

That said, personally i wouldnt put huge amounts into getting the huge BHP figures....400bhp is enough if your only driving on the road..

Did you buy it modded Gaz? How much difference does the mod make or have'nt you driven a standard one?

Bought it standard, had it mapped myself.....

It makes the car accelerate harder and thats about it....(as you would expect)...Its still suprisingly frugal.... can just shade 40 mpg on a good day.

When Mr Wilks and myself went out for a pennine blast last weekend the car average 29mpg.....cant complain at that as we had a mixture of hoon and cruise in traffic..

Worth doing then. That's bloody good economy as well.

I'm getting around 23 mpg, but putting that down to the engine still being tight at 1,800 miles.

Aye.....

Mine is a daily and does a stop start all the way to work and all the way home.... about 12 miles all told so no real chance to warm up...

Still achieves 24mpg in them conditions..... I think thats excellent all things considered..

Hello DPG ... in the end I found it very hard to let go plus the £8k hit in lost deposit over just 7 months etc .. I kept the dealer hanging on as much as I could to make my mind up .. in the end I just sold some company shares that I had and came to the conclusion to keep it for now. Plus been out for a couple of drives in north Essex and really started to enjoy it. So most people on this forum where right just use it more and get to learn the Character of the 35is etc .. so still have it :)

was not going to mention it because I have probably bored the pants of people with my indecisiveness .. but seeing you asked

Had it in sport mode yesterday for a 2 hour drive and really liked it . .even in heavy traffic on the A127 the cabin was a nice place to be .. plus had a couple of very nice compliments from other drivers etc .. which is very rare for me
