The loud bang is usually when it's in overboost, or that's when mine seems to do it most... Although I have short shifted a couple of times and the shotgun blast has suprised me..

Yes, the car does pop and crackle more in sport...
The throttle mapping is different in sport mode, can only assume that causes it.

Ok, I thought it was perhaps clever trickery with the valve which caused the pops... I'll have a play over the weekend. How can I safely "cap" the pipes?

But what about stopping crap go into the actuator valve once you pull the pipe off?

Got under the car yesterday, used an old valve cap to cover the pipe and some elctrical tape to stop stuff getting into the actuator. Will look for a better solution (saw on eBay there are proper caps for sale for a couple of quid). Ideally you need one cap which fits on both ends but blocked in the middle so the pipe isn't flapping around and it looks OEM from BMW's POV.

What a difference! I was highly sceptical at first, but it sounds like it should now. No more rattling and noises from the valve - just proper sound  Quite often on a hill at part throttle you could hear that it wasn't open or shut properly and it would just vibrate or rattle...crap.

Even more antisocial now - doesn't need an aftermarket exhaust anymore :? :poke:

If you look and see a valve under the right exhaust then yes
