smidgen off 10k for a 110k miles 2009 23sdrive....

over two years ago I bought a 23sdrive with 23k miles and a host of options on it

Extended Leather
Satnav
upgraded stereo

to name a few and this was priced at 15k from a dealer with a years warranty.....

The one above is asking too much money and it has no warranty.

I went for a look at this GTR tonight...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261953397063

Not too far and they initially offered decent Px on my 35is...

Couldn't strike a deal in the end, we where just too far away on numbers but he did say the 35is would be for sale £20,995....

That said, if he offered that I would be the owner of a GTR.... Lol..

It really was some buy.
That was some really good deal at the time on your e85 Rob...i bought my 3.0i e85 at 2years old fro 21k, sold it 5.5 years later for 8200,inc some extra bits i had on it, which would be 2 years after you got yours for 10800, intersting to see the deprecition pattern over the years on e85's etc.

Anyway, e89 is now growing on me as an option, but for me i think i will hang onto my M and get another car completely different as my next car.(Keeping my M as summer only and just keeping it serviced etc.)

Went for a blast about...

Car was quick...very quick... Condition 8/10....
All the car u would ever need and £1000 would get it where I wanted it to be.

But as it happened I wouldn't put more in the deal and neither would he... So we had to part.. Shame..

I don't think you will ever get a 'great' deal from someone who wants to make profit at both ends. Can you sell the car privately and then reconsider?

I love the GTR but I cant help thinking these first models are just over priced. 38k.... it seems insane for a 6-7 year old car - has it even depreciated 50% ?

Surely the running costs on this thing are incredible.

Market dictates prices...

If you can't buy one cheaper, that's where the price point starts.
The car would be about £49000 when new, so residual value has been incredibly good

Running costs are high, but I only do 4/5k a year max so it's not really an issue.. Insurance is around £500, so double the 35is... As is the tax.

But it's definitely one car I need to tick off the list... And I pretty much think I could own one and sell in 12 months without losing anything if I get the deal right..

Unfortunately it wasn't to be...... This time.

Those original GTR's were bargains brand new when you consider what tech and performance they offered. The list price of the later model years were ramped up massively despite very few significant changes. That's why the early ones still fetch good money.

They are a car I'd like to own at some point too.

Yea..

The facelift in 2010 with more bhp, bigger engine and a few cosmetic touches upped the prices..
New ones went to £70,000..

I was looking at early GTR's around 3 yrs ago at £32/£33k...
These then jumped to £38/£39k overnight..

And prices haven't really dipped much since...
I have had an R32GTR & R33 GTR... Never could afford a 34 ...
Prices are still high for any GTR, but they are genuine engineering masterpieces of their time..

But then the area code is Huddersfield and Y prefix is Yorkshire so it could be. it's a 23i so at launch bottom of the range and not considered a great engine unfortunately but I'd rather have that than a 2.0l, just a personal preference.

We've had some horror stories of engine failures only on the 23i funnily enough so wonder how this has faired mechanically.

Higher millage, turn off for some people but not all. Spec, it's not got much going for it to be honest. Looks like an early one with the extended leather option, manual, no nav, standard wheels non m sport.

It's possibly priced to sell? Which would make me wonder if there are niggles or issues the current owner is having with it.

That car vs's E86? I'd have a E86 all day long. That car vs's a E85? I'd just walk thanks :P
Never heard of engine failures on the 23i. It's the same engine as on facelifts E85/6 and the only issue I know of is the HVA problem.

Have a look here viewtopic.php?f=45&t=74310 there has been at least two or three E89 23i owners with the same issue.

Have to say I've spotted this Z4 locally and very tempted as a potential Z3 replacement,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-BMW-Z4-3 ... 1534949746

Re the E89, I haven't seen many high mileage examples so can't comment on how they might be holding up but I do have reservations with high mileage examples especially against the Z3 where cars with over 250000 are becoming common with no problems what so ever, I just don't think the E89 will have the same bullet proof logevity. Running an E89 alongside my Z3 it was plainly obvious the E89 has areas of poor build quality which I found quite a let down and why I still have the Z3. I'm not knocking the E89 as I found plenty to like but older ones I'm not so sure.
