Why are there so many that don't go topless?

Post by imported » Tue Jun 09, 2015 8:39 pm

Why do most people with convertibles almost always drive with the roof up?

I wrote earlier that I drive with the roof down 50% of the time, but actually now that I think about it it's much more than that. I already have a habit of opening the roof with my key right before I walk out the door to work everyday and same when I come home or go out. The only time I drive with the top up is when it's rainy, very cold or I'm very late for something (e.g. the train).

I've seen about 8-9 Z4s in the last month, not one was with the top down. We pay extra for the hard-top convertible and it probably would be pretty significant even if you worked out the cost on a daily basis.

I think the same what's the point in buying a convertible and only using it when it's 20 degrees or above .

Forget 20 degrees. More like 26C, bright-white sunny and planets are perfectly aligned.

You have to on the motorway. Best you can do is make sure your windows are crystal clear. Actually the worst is roof down and TINTED windows up.

Topless pretty much every trip for me and the Zed, but then we stay out of the rain. 8)

If it does start raining while we're out then it just means cleaning the hoops and top of the seats next opportunity, roof usually still stays down. Much to the amusement of the PH crew when driving across Dartmoor one rather damp day. :D

Im one of those people! To be honest I like to get the roof down when the occasion is right. It makes it that extra special. Some days I just don't feel like it. When going to the shops or to work I don't bother. It's not a weather thing either. If it's really hot and I'm driving to tesco through traffic in town I prefer to have the roof on with the AC on. Same if I'm going to be on the motorway for 2 hrs. The times I do put the roof down, i can appreciate it a lot more.
