Didn't know this

If you're a half-wit and forget to 'open' your folding mirrors they automatically 'open' after driving a few yards. Quite clever.

I'll admit, I didn't know this. Doesn't work when reversing lol  but then I've only reversed about 20 foot with them in.

I sometimes have to negotiate several hundred feet of local alleys with them folded. I haven't tried accelerating with them folded but I wonder if they'd stay put.

Car has DVD In Motion from a previous owner.

I've got the Smarttop fitted now so I can't try it!

I did read somewhere that they open up when the car reaches a certain speed.

I can now confirm that they open if you accelerate hard with them folded.

They open automatically over 26 MPH, which happens to be the speed the roof stops opening.

If you've got yourself up to 26mph and not noticed that you've not opened your wing mirrors you really shouldn't be in control of a car because your clearly not paying attention!

On the contrary, I simply like the automation of it.

One could argue that if you need your mirrors to accelerate of every occasion you're not looking where you're going. Same pointless argument.
