Sepang......? You have lost me. Forgive me for my ignorance.

Taking the 35is into the dealers anyway for lumpy DCT downshifts and a worsening DCT lag on fully depressing the accelerator pedal. This is a '63 plate model so I assumed that the DCT software update that is mentioned on earlier threads was standard? Perhaps not?

Still in love though but eyeing up an M4 at he end of my 3 year contract :) Need the extra seats!

Cheers

Some of these oil consumptions are excessive and not 'normal' despite what BMW might say. IME there are two main reasons 1) the engine has been badly run in - normally too gently rather than too harshly; and 2) the engine is regularly 'ragged' before it is up to temperature.

I suppose there is a third comprising 1) & 2) together!!
Considering Ordered Received 35is - Melbourne Red / Ivory White with lots of bells & whistles. Deep Sea Blue replacement 35is now also departed. Replaced by something more brash, more powerful and American!

Dr z4 00 wrote:I wonder if the way the engine is run in has anything to do with oil consumption. I had an E46 320D that drank oil. I did a bit of research and found a few people claiming all new engines needed a bit of hard use to seat the piston rings etc.
Only recently I have been aware of this and I agree, we had our TTS from new and ran it in and it never used hardly any oil at all and it wasn't run in gently so there could be some truth in it I think.

May I enquire as to what the Sepang method is? :)

As long as it is not offensive? :|

Which can be equally bad. Need to throw in 1.7<2k to 4<4.25k pulls at around 50-60% throttle.
