What deal did you get or your 35is?

Post by James Junior » Wed Apr 15, 2015 6:24 pm

Hi all,

I am on the hunt for a used 35is and just wondering what deals any other recent buyers managed to negotiate....if you don't mind sharing that information of course.

Its hard to get feel for what the correct pricing levels are as there are so few on the market.

I have established that you can buy a new one before options for £32k from Broadspeed, so stick on Nav, decent wheels and a few desirable options and you're probably at £37k. However lead in times are six months I believe. I cannot wait that long as I only have my battered old 156 V6 to drive in the meantime, as I have sold my Z4 Coupe. I run a wealth management business so cannot really be turning up to see HNW clients in that old banger!

However, as a benchmark, the Broadspeed deal makes the nearly new 35iss that are up for sale with dealers look like poor value.

Ideally I was hoping to go for an earlier car with 20k to 30k on the clock for which £25k seems to be the rough price point. There was a very nice grey one on with red leather, 12 plate with 30k on the clock that I was going to offer on (its still on Auto Trader). However, I thought he was a little expensive at £26,500 so was prepared to ask for some discount. However, the car was snapped up before I even had the chance, so perhaps wasn't that dear after all. :tumbleweed:

It would help me understand the market a bit more if any members would be willing to share what deals they got on their cars. I want to buy ASAP but am cautious of overpaying simply due to the rarity of these cars.

Any input welcome and appreciated.

Just specced one on the Broadspeed website an as suspected, it totaled a price of just over £37k.

Didn't bother specing the bigger wheels as would like to fit my own anyway.

Spoke to Broadspeed about lead in times and turns out it is 12 weeks, so not as bad as I thought. Might be an option worthy of more consideration...

Hi James,

Paid bang on 40k for mine 2 wks ago, took 8 wks from order to collection. Spec wise:

Sat nav

Comfort pack
Red leather and sapphire black paint
19 inch 296 alloys
Heated steering wheel
All usual bits and bobs.

Dealer got within 1k of broadspeed which I was happy with.

Good luck.

I am currently in the process of ordering a new 35is, certainly some variations in prices. I think Iwill need to negotiate a bit harder I think :)

Pick your dealership wisely & be prepared to travel. My local dealer is one of these 'state of the art' showrooms with all kinds of flashy multi-media video wall, disco light handover room & help your self refreshments (inc muffins & cookies). I took the printed quote & told they couldn't get close to that Z4 quote.

The dealership I bought from was well presented but no media wall & just water, okay coffee & tea on tap plus the hand over area was a reserved parking space out front. But you know what, I much preferred the Z4 hand over, it was only about the car nothing about some silly media release inspired spectacle.

A lot of it comes down to the dealer, when you buy it, whats in the system as a non specced pre order etc.

I was amazed for example to get nearly 7 grand off my new Merc... it was only launched two months before I ordered it!

FWIW ....

I got a 13 plate car 6 months ago in MW with only 2450 miles on it for £29995. It had every extra bar heated steering wheel - adaptive lights (very odd sensation as they turn the corner), Prof Nav, top 14 (?) speaker Hifi, etc.

I had bought an 11 plate last June with 28000 miles in black for £25000 with no Nav.

A new one was going to cost me about £40 a month more over 4 years which wasn't an issue but the 6 month wait quoted at the time by 3 separate dealers was ... so when I found the almost new MW one with next to no miles I went for it !

If you can pick one up that ticks all or most of your boxes 2nd hand then that's great and better financially obviously, just depends what you want and how much you'll give up as I doubt many will find their ultimate spec without ordering new. Some very good deals to be had both new and 2nd hand though, plenty for James to be thinking about.

I'd hurry... :) In Sept last year we were offered about 17k off a new 35iS. Can't imagine those deals available now.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to post on this, very useful.

According to Broadspeed there are some good deals to be had at the moment as BMW are only taking orders to the end of August after which they are gearing up for the release of the new model next year.

Will keep an eye out for what used deals come up in the next few weeks but if nothing catches my eye, I might have to order something.
