Smartop setting

Post by ronk » Tue Apr 07, 2015 9:33 pm

My smartop is all set except for the mirrors

Do I :-
1 set it to fold every time on lock (are the motors man enough)
2 double tap to fold ( in which case the motion sensors are turned off)
3 turn the function off!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

1, but with the auto unfold too. I've got that setup on my A8 and it's great, not least 'cos you can see at a glance if the car's locked...

I must admit the only reason I like mine to auto fold when locked/unlocked is so I can check from the house, before I go to bed, that I've locked the car.

Another forum member kindly installed mine  - the only difficulty I saw was the lack of stowage spcace for the unit after connection.

Do you need to have a smarttop for this? I thought you could code this using the BMWWhat app??

I've now set mine to fold/unfold on lock/unlock -I only hope that the motors are man enough to cope. :)

I do the same (fold / unfold on lock / unlock). Been working perfectly for almost 2 years, so I would not worry.

My mirrors also auto fold on lock/unlock.
As far a disabling the Smartop I left the USB connected and ran it so just the end is sticking out under the compartment where the battery is.. then I can use a USB extension cable to the laptop to enable/disable/change settings. (providing you can connect to your home wireless from where your car is!)

I use my Notebook for that purpose but as I'm migrating to Apple land I would like to be in the position to switch it off without using a PC.

How do you disable the Smarttop completely using the indicator stalk? Instructions not clear.

What does this mean: "you can navigate through the functions by pushing the stalk down [OK that's clear] and once the arrows are finished indicating the function and setting [less clear], change the setting by pushing it up [OK that's understood]"

Probably completely obvious once you know... but the middle bit? How do you cycle through each function and its settings? Was hoping to find a Youtube video of this, not found, anyone got a link///?
Graham.

Pushing the stalk down spools thro the functions and the function is shown by the number of flashes of the indicator arrows - I think you have to run thro all of them .

I'm hanging onto a windows laptop for now ' cos the stalk instructions are as clear as mud.

I could not get the drivers to load on my windows laptop. (Win 7 64 bit), I might have another go with a 32 bit one
