Not an option unless you have keyless comfort access.
Or buy a smart top which is a great option to have

Bought a smart top from PPCGB on Friday, easy to configure via a laptop.
I have my MOT in 2 weeks so will wait until after that to install. I have PDC so I understand it's a bit of a squeeze!

All cars have rear PDC the issue is if you have comfort access and the module for this which makes it a squeeze however if you have the comfort access you already have a lot of the features offered

I really struggled to squeeze my smarttop in, great bit of kit though, you won't be disappointed with it.
you can disable it via the indicator stick if you can't wait until after your MOT (not that it would be a reason for failure?) or just leave the cable plugged into the module protuding from the trim in the boot so you can plug it to your laptop without tearing the trim apart.

I had a read up on the forum previously and I think it was the issues that you reported on here during your installation that made me realise it can be a challenge!mattstav wrote:I really struggled to squeeze my smarttop in, great bit of kit though, you won't be disappointed with it.

I didn't realise that all cars have rear PDC, I don't have Comfort Access so hopefully i'll have a space for it! I'm planning on leaving the USB protruding 'if possible' so I can switch it on/off, updates and config changes.. time will tell how practical that is though!
With the MOT I think I'm just worried about it affecting the warranty (if spotted, even if disabled) the MOT may pass, but they could put a black mark against it on record about a smartop being in there if I have future issues?

My car has it as a after market installation.
The costs was just over £100.00

I had a rear light cluster replaced under warranty on the side where the SmartTop is and an MOT done at the dealers and they didn't say anything. Just my experience though.

Hi. I have the keyless comfort entry fitted to my car. Are you saying that I can close the roof remotely by holding down the lock button ?Stark wrote:Not an option unless you have keyless comfort access.

Try it.AndyJ wrote:Hi. I have the keyless comfort entry fitted to my car. Are you saying that I can close the roof remotely by holding down the lock button ?Stark wrote:Not an option unless you have keyless comfort access.

I think it is 3 clicks of the unlock button to open it and 2 click of unlock and 1 of lock to close it.
Or some combination of the above

For comfort access you only have to press and hold the close button, the option you're talking about is with the smart roof and you code it with the clicks etc

I'm probably confused. The original question wasStark wrote:For comfort access you only have to press and hold the close button, the option you're talking about is with the smart roof and you code it with the clicks etc
"How can we code the roof to close while pressing the lock button?"
On my previous Z4 (60 35i) you couldn't close the roof via the remote, only open it. I've no idea what "smart roof" is.

It's SmartTop which is a module that can be fitted to give some of the features of the comfort access as well as others like folding mirrors and one touch roof opening and closing.AndyJ wrote:I'm probably confused. Re: Coding roof to close with fob
Smart top is really good and like Angie says it offers lots of other options which just the basic comfort access doesn't offer
