C110 scanner
Hi, Anyone used a C110 diagnostic tool, need to check engine fault code. Are they as useful as they claim to be.

Not used for anything else but does support the E89 as well.
If you have an Android Tablet you may be better off with one of the Apps that offer some programming as well as error code clearing.
The C110 is good for what it is though.

Do you have any details of such apps as that sounds quite useful.

Re: C110 scanner
I have used one of these successfuly to reset lights. It justified itself when a cold start threw up a misfire code. After checking all the coil, plugs etc, I was able to reset the light and the engine has been fine since. Without the C110, I would have probably been stuck in limp mode.
I also have Torque on an android device and whilst I haven't tried that in the Z4, I have reset EML lights on a fiesta with it.

Re: C110 scanner
I have a C110. yes they work and I have found them very helpful.
In some cases it won't reset codes. It wouldn't reset my brake pressure sensor although it did successfully identify the problem and allowed me to repair. Had to uses a 'snap on' reader at the local garage. They are pretty cheap and very handy to plug in.

Depends how much you want to spend and how much you want to do? I have a clone of the Delphi VCI150 which you can get from China for about £70.00. It covers most cars and does pretty much everything including winding back rear pads, testing almost every module on the car, battery reprogramming/diags, the list is endless... The OBD unit itself is Bluetooth and the software is PC Based. I bought through AliBaba but here is an example:

Another good App (Android or Apple) is BMWhat by iViNi which allows programming of many aspects of the car, including roof speed limit open/close, digital speed and mirror folding from remote. (£35.00+adapter) I think the Android version has more features than the Apple variant.

Re: C110 scanner
Thanks guys,
much food for thought I will definitely get a reader, seems there are pros and cons for the various types. For the cost, if it shows up something I can tackle myself then could save ££££'s if not then what's the cost of a night out, plus it's there for next time, which from my current experience ain't to far away.
All the best

Many thanks for the offer, much appreciated. I took the plunge and ordered one Friday night. Just hope I can sort out the problem if indeed there is one, engine seems fine.E89_Gaz wrote:I am just north of Coventry, if you want to pop round and plug in?
