I brought a set of winter wheels & tyres (RFT) for my last Z4 (2009 35is) and they were great, and I kept them when I changed to my new Z4 (2014 28is). This week I thought, time to fit the winter wheels. All went well & at the end I carried out the tyre pressure monitor reset and set off on a drive to allow the recalibration to confirm all was well, only to receive an error that the system was disabled.
After a couple more tries I gave up and hit the web......Ahh, BMW have introduced TPMS!! Instead of detecting a puncture by monitoring the relative rotation speed of each wheel (as it was on my 2009 Z4), there is now a pressure detector in each wheel that communicates individual pressure via a radio signal to the car.
Contacted my local BMW garage.... £75 per sensor, + £10 for new valves + fitting charge - approx £400!!! And the sensors are on back-order as all cars from 1st Nov '14 must have them fitted, which is putting a strain on the suppliers.

Re: Winter wheels & TPMS
I know some of the guys on babybmw have bought the sensors from BM-Miniparts for the F20 so might be worth enquiring.
Reason why I haven't bought any BMW winter wheels for the M135i, 2K from BMW is crazy To be honest its a pain as I don't like taking the risk over winter without some decent tyres so seriously considering Audi Quattro or an Evoque next time around.
