I thought oil top ups were free at the dealers between services.

My new 35is I had a couple of weeks ago came with a litre of oil tucked in a slot down by the battery, whether it came like that from the factory or its the dealer being very efficient I don't know, but its Shell Helix Ultra 5/30 if that's of any help.

You lucky bugger :)
Got into the car tonight and no warnings on the dash so I'm going to visit my dealership tomorrow and see if I can get a free top up

Without a dipstick, how do you know how much to add?

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

From the owners manual you do not add any oil until it asks for it and then you add 1 litre, if I read it right.

Low by a Litre seems a lot? I wouldn't normally let an engine get that low :(

The engine hasn't shown any oil use between changes and now at 15k. It's just had the 2nd oil change at four years old.
The service package runs out dec 2015 so it will be worth getting a topup pack on the deal if I can.

But is it worth the hassle for £10's worth of oil to have to book your car in to have the oil topped up?
I couldn't see my dealer sending a Mech out to the car park when I pull up to top the oil up.

Let us know how you get on....might be a simple process.

This is the problem with free top ups, the light has to be on and I guess you will have to book it in. I just bought a litre. For the sake of a few quid I would rather know I have oil to hand.

I'm not going to book it in just going to turn up and tell them I want it done then and there
Plus the dealership is as close to me as any shops I can go and buy oil

That's great if they'll do that for you.....just don't think I'd get that in my London Dealership. :-)
