Not that I do a lot of hard driving but I do have some fun in the car when the roads permit. It's nearing 30k miles now and my brakes are garbage, they judder and rumble and I've lost faith in the OEM discs and pads.
So has anyone tried or been tempted by an alternative? E89 35i/is (same brakes afaik)

The brakes themselves are fine, but the discs are rubbish and have worn badly. I'll have to have a look around at third party peeps for new discs and pads.

I was under the impression that the 'is' had upgraded brakes.... could be wrong.
You might find that after 30k they are just worn out?

Maniac has a 35i I believe and as for upgraded brakes, nope the 35i and 35is have the same.matsmith749 wrote:I was under the impression that the 'is' had upgraded brakes.... could be wrong.

When the time comes for mines to be replaced I'll be going for Pads like Yellow Stuff of Red Stuff and some grooved and drilled discs.
I've usually replaced my brakes by 30k so I'd think they are nearing the end of their life span.

well there's always the full Brembo kit http://www.bimmerzone.com/product/BRE-1P1-8508.html
easy on the eye but not on the wallet!
Maybe Brembo discs and a change of pads required Maniac. I've used Ferodo DS2500 pads on other cars and always found them a good compromise between daily use and 'spirited' driving.

My s35i goes for its (little) remap on Monday, as it stands the brakes feel awful before I add performance, so I'd like to upgrade my front discs and pads, did you get anything sorted in the end? My cars only covered just shy of 17k and the OBC claims the brakes are fine for another 44k, but they feel awful and fade to quickly"
Thanks.

No, I'm determined to get every mm out of the current setup before I decide. Besides, now with the Merc coming soon, I'll not have the cash to play with immediately so I'll have to see if I can get a little mod savings pot put together.
