MPG

Post by philabbo » Mon Jul 28, 2014 10:26 am

Quite surprised with my 23 sdrive mpg over the weekend. Managed 37.1 on a 250mile trip, Mostly motorway cruising at about 80-85mph with a few hold ups on the way but still surprised by what I managed to get.

I'm sure you mean 70mph! :) Can't moan at 37mpg though!

I think it was a typo, actually meant kilometres an hour, approx 50-55 miles per hour in which case a little disappointing. :(

So I shouldn't say that I drove edinburgh to silverstone 366 miles away and got 40.3 mpg even with some 'spirited' driving. However I did have cruise on quite a lot of it.

My 35iS is sitting at an average of 25mpg in the short time I have had it ... but that is actually better than I expected and I am happy with that element of ownership :)
Current : BMW M240i Convertible in black and a Smart Fortwo diesel in white :)
Previous : BMW 35iS in Mineral White and an Mercedes AMG A45 in black

Does cruise help with mpg? I always thought that the braking function going downhill would help it much? I don't know why I am thinking of mpg all of a sudden......must be getting old!!

Dont worry about mpg - it's depreciation that's the killer blow!

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Good man

Little more effort and you'll have it in the teens.

Single figures also perfectly achievable on Track. :D

I didn't buy a zed to worry about mpg figures either! It's nice to know that good mpg is possible even from 3.0 l engines ,even if it's only because you run low in the middle of nowhere!

As I said depreciation is the big killer £5k a year or more ?... Driven or not!

MPG isn't an issue with me because I only cover around 3000 miles per year, but I drove a 300 mile round trip last week on both motorway and country roads and averaged 37 mpg in my z4 3.0si coupe.

I've had mine all the way up to the dizzying heights of 47mpg, I was pretty impressed with it :D
However, put your foot down a bit and it soon plummets, i've had it down to 12mpg at one point  :driving:
