Has anyone gone from big six to a four and not had regrets?

None,

only thing i miss is the sound that was / is so intoxicating - especially with an induction kit!

But dropping down from 335i to 28i None + I am saving £1500 a year before (Net) just in running costs

I'm actually considering the same move. M135i auto to e89 manual. Not decided whether a 28i or 35is used due to the cost. For the same reasons that it just doesn't seem special to me. I was also thinking of an e86 z4m coupe as its a lot cheaper but don't know if that's too much of a sacrifice.
