On a steady 70 mph run to Bristol I can get +50mpg, not bad for 2 tonne car with a 0-60 time just over 6 secondssrhutch wrote:[
I would agree, and suggest the 330d on the same journey would do better than 45mpg.

Re: N20 28i 45MPG !!!!!
The most I saw out of my 330d was on a trip down the M3 to get it rolling roaded post remap at DMS ... it showed 61.4mpg as I went down there at 6am doing 50mph over the whole 60 mile journey !
Not normal driving and by the time I got back it was showing 47mpg
A remapped 330d may be very quick but deploying the power is far more difficult than my 35iS. I loved the acceleration but not the uncomfortable way it did it. The 35iS - or any Z4 for that matter is going to be far more fun to use the acceleration. I would be interested to see the two side by side on a runway though as the 330d was stunningly quick for what it was at 300+ bhp.

Re: N20 28i 45MPG !!!!!
Well I did own an E46 204 330d remaped and an 335i remapped - both very very different cars in how they deliver power.
I did prefer the 330d in power delivery compared to an unmapped 335i.
However 330d gave me 30 Mpg 335i gave me 25 MPG - and the 28i 31 Mpg - all combined
The Z4 is less dramatic but it has enough to over take them pesty Nissan micros (should be banned!)

Really? In a contraflow you thought it was wise to use your mobile phone to take a video of your dash which clearly indicates you are driving. Absolute tool! If your driving the phone should be well away from your hands and preferably out if sight. I don't give a toss what mpg you were getting, it shows how much lack of consideration you have for the rules of the road.Twin Turbo wrote:I am not an great fan of contriflows - BUT they have an unusual benefit an steady 50Mph = 61MPG

Well we will disagree on that one because the angle of the shot is far too far to the right to be someone leaning over that far. It's quite clear that it's being held on top of the steering wheel and moving slowing up and down as the person in control moves the wheel just like they would whilst........driving!Twin Turbo wrote:I TOTALLY AGREE,Angie4m wrote:Really? Just be glad you didn't have an accident because it's the first thing they would want to check.
EDIT - and now said video is private and cannot be viewed. Think that says quite a lot.

Re: N20 28i 45MPG !!!!!
IMO this thread is slightly misleading.
45 MPG would be impressive if it were actually normal driving, not @ a steady 60MPH, downhill, wind behind, etc, etc.
I actually think 45 MPG is pretty good but not amazing in these conditions for what is essentially a bang up to date, 2L 4 pot.
Not that I like diesels, but a diesel would smash this consumption figure and completely smash the 31MPG, which is what you are getting on a real world, daily basis.
You got 25MPG from a 335i and now get 31MPG out of the 4 pot, personally I would much rather pay the small amount of extra fuel for the whole 35i experience.
I had a 2007 N54 335i and when it was working properly, that engine is nothing short of a masterpiece.
