Mines is averaging about 28mpg. That's in comfort mode & normal commuting driving. Cars only done 900miles think this will improve. Been using super unleaded & seem to get more miles to the tank. You will get less if your in sport mode & on the paddles, but get big smiles :D

Mine in the 500 miles I have had it (One week!) was on 25.4mpg from previous owner. First tank with me was normal unleaded and was doing 22mpg. Since then I have used V Power and now on 25mpg.

That is running around on Surrey's roads and giving it a squirt where I can.

So I knew what to expect when stuck in traffic I reset it and over the 10 mile journey in traffic it showed just under 20.

The car has done 29K.

If I drive in sport and make the exhaust make lots of noise (usually in town) then I get 30.3 or in standard 32.1mpg according to the dash but I do live in town so don't drive in peak times usually. If I'm on a drive on at A1 just cruising along I get about 37 mpg

it can go down a great deal if you try playing the pipes.. Flat chat everywhere that is .

A near 2k run through Europe with a few very hight speed runs returned 30mpg

normal town driving with no cruising and its in the 21-19 range.

oops, just realised that you asked about the 35iS.

Mine has returned an overall average of 27mpg over 30k miles. On long runs involving long motorway stretches it will return ~30mpg. At a constant 70mph on the motorway it returns 37mpg. On any tank to tank measure it has never dropped below 23mpg.
Considering Ordered Received 35is - Melbourne Red / Ivory White with lots of bells & whistles. Deep Sea Blue replacement 35is now also departed. Replaced by something more brash, more powerful and American!

Thanks for the responses.
I'm thinking of what 35is ownership would cost and MPG isn't vastly different to what i get on my 30i
I think car tax is about the same too

Yip not too different in the VED rates and yes the MPG shouldn't be too bad in comparison to your current E89. I actually get better mpg from my E89 than I got from a 2.0l auto E88!

Wow. I did NOT expect 30MPG to be possible in this car, let alone above that. That's really impressive. I suppose on the motorway at a steady 70-90mph in sixth and seventh in normal mode will yield high twenties?

I do most of my driving around town though, in heavy traffic. Gulp.

What's more impressive is the MPG seeing as the DCT has no overdrive.

At what speed does it let you manually shift up to seventh, and does it remain there so long as you don't accelerate?

7th (in normal mode) is selected at just over 40mph. Unless you choose sport/sport+ or press more than 50% on the throttle at which point it will change down.

I get much the same as the others here.

Normal daily trip to work & back (10 miles round trip - stop start town driving) gets me 22-25mpg.

Longer runs at the weekend mainly on A roads usually more like 30mpg.

100 mile trips on the motorway at a reasonable speed (80ish) brings it close to 40mpg (best seen on a 350 mile motorway trip ended up at 42mpg).

Not a bad car considering the performance!
